Damp here in Oldham no real rain ir snow
-
Gfs nof looking that bad imho

I would check totals at 06z and 18z Sunday. That would give a better reflection of potential snow for ourregion

The law of sod says the following : last time (3 or so weeks ago) it was cold enough and here we had no precipitation, this time we'll get the precipitation but I am almost certain for here at least it wont be cold enough for an all snow event.
Remains to be seen, but thats my gut feeling.
re NAE : 12 z data is the precipitation accumulation - this is always 1st to update.
Thats handy to know, thanks
-
still rain 6am sunday so i hope we see some pinks as we head through sunday!
Still 06z data!

Precip totals out from the NAE. View them how you want to.
Will it be wellies and brollies, or sledges and skis ?
Not sure if that’s the 12z yet, on the rain/snow charts the Saturdays band is much more intense. Out to +24 (so Saturday dinner) Rain for our region snow for the southwest!
Sunday is the day of interest!
-
Only out to Sunday 6am as yet.

So far, so wet, unless you live North of the M62. But the more interesting (hopefully!) stuff comes later, so we'll have to wait for this evening before that picture starts to emerge.
Thats spot on in my eyes...... Like you say by 18z Sunday the map will be showing much more snow!
-
well it looks a non event on the gfs and ukmo 0zruns for many.ecm looks better longer term but if the models are correct i expect a backtrack on the beeb forecasts sadly.
Only the GFS is poor for everyone..... Looks good for our region, more so higher areas!
-
I don't see how it can start as snow unless you are on the highest ground in somewhere like the Southern Peak District.
Thought it was obvious now that the event would be rain to snow depending on the track of the low for everyone. South may miss out altogether thou as might the north. Again depending on the track

Disappointing ecm 12z really, azores high moving in on friday.
ECM is great for northern folk much better than the ukmet and gfs. Heavy snow sundwy into tuesdat followed by frosty and dry weather

Its that band today thats getting me, its a huge band whether thats rain or snow, its not showing anything in the forecasts.
It's going to die out as it moves East....... Light snow is forecast for the early hours of Monday morning

Complete downgrades on the meto, barely any warning for anywhere
They take them down while they update them daily!
-
Temp slowly dropping here, clouds rolling in and gone very quiet out there!
Looking at the radar there are some showers near your location!
-
-
Ecm not far from ukmet model. ... pressure lower in the Atlantic also
-
Sleety/rain here now! Temp 0c dew point 0c
Recipe for disaster
-
The now is still moderate but really fine now

Snow settling here in Chadderton, Not sure what it's going to be like @ 233m ASL where I live

Had torrential hail & light snow showers overnight. There's a dusting out there but it's melting quickly. Told you guys not to expect much from this watered down north westerly. The mild sector was always going to ruin things.
Besides, convection has now died a death in the Irish Sea. Snooze fest! Although them hail showers last night were brilliant accompanied by lightning.
Yawn........ Mild sector not showing it's hand yet. Areas like yourself near the coast was always unlikely to see much if anything from this event.
Your snooze fest has left 2 inches of snow here, Showers are building to the west of Manchester and tracking across south Manchester into Sheffield. Sheffield has seen 5 cms in under an hour..... again your snooze fest has delivered as was expected.

amazing out there. Streamers has set up could be quite a total by morningBlizzard here too, winds gusting driving snow.....amazing stuff
-
Looks liks a streamer has set up for north manchestef
