Temp fallen by 0.5 degree in 15 minutes and the wind has swung to the SSE and increased. No sign of precipitation but the sky is looking darker by the minute

Interesting to see some frantic activity by the local birds. As I type this the wind has dropped and started to swing to due south.

Yep - I think that's it for the isle of Wight but let's not forget in the summer we have the beaches!!!!!! Temperature is now such that I can't forsee a freeze tonight but it would be utter chaos if it did and very dangerous on the wet roads. Much as I would like to see more snow even the Weds/Thurs possibility now seems to be doubtful as the Atlantic is fighting back.....

It's been raining heavily from Shanklin to Newport this morning with just a hint of sleet towards the Downs. It looks like this is it for the time being and R4 is forecasting rain along the South Coast - to see the dramatic temperature rise have a look at www.chimet.co.uk - more details within atmospheric conditions - a dramatic rise in air tem which concurs with the details seen at home.

Major thaw underway here on Island now - also looks very unlikely now that we are going to see any more - all forecasts seem to be indicating that the French low is moving well over to the East......shame!

No major issues on Isle of Wight - roads are clear from Ryde to Cowes although some minor roads remain gritted but passable with care - bit of a non-event really - colleagues on mainland report Portsmouth fine and several have driven in from outskirts of Southampton with no drama - sun is now shining here!

A surprisingly hard frost on Southsea seafront today but none on the Isle of Wight a similar distance from sea. Grey Squirrels going mental with nuts in local park - does this herald a cold winter?
