Quite still on the Island at the moment...... Chimet down to F6, F7 in the gusts but the rain is biblical

Yarmouth lifeboat just launched according to website locally...
-
Chimet now showing gusts of F9......it may be downgrade ahoy inland but as far as we are concerned this remains a serious and potentially damaging storm

It's pretty serious here right now so I suggest most people around the South Coast would be delighted to have a downgrade. The evidence however remains less than sufficient to make such a statement.

Yep GFS ens keeps a big high over eastern Europe as a result the UK remains fairly mild with at uppers no lower than +5 covering most of England and Wales to at least mid October with mild / warm south westerly winds
To quote Montgomery Burns.... "excellent Smithers"

Now that's what I call snow!!!! Impressive choppers..........
-
MO/BBC showing rain or sleet falling from Monday onwards and temps rising well above any potential for snow - the Atlantic is too powerful right now but so what.......we had a great fall here, third winter in a row. My view is that there will be a mild spell for some days and we need the Atlantic to calm down.
-
It's warmer here now than any time in the last 24 hours - risen from 0.4 to 1.0.....I'm not convinced there is going to be a freeze here tonight - the influence of the sea remains strong
-
Temp has remained constant since 1300 but it feels really raw and yes, it's looking very dark towards the south east - are there any thoughts on the possibility of a freeze tonight? There's a lot of cloud and BBC shows +3c overnight here...............a very small thaw this afternoon but foliage and branches still holding accumulations so nothing major
-
Bo selector - reeeeewind.....impressive - cleared the birds food table at 13.15 - it's white again and looking over the fields it's coming in vast white sheets - winds from SE - I get the feeling (from my location) that this is coming direct from the Channel - attached is a picture from 2010 when a huge snowstorm was coming towards us - the clouds are many miles out in the Channel
-
Serious amounts of snow & wind, Hovertravel on reduced services, it's as bad now as 8.00am
-
O M G, totes amazeballs etc etc......blizzard conditions here, seriously falling and viz poor, temp now 0.6 John Hammond on R4 saying significant event coming from France on Sunday........
-
It's starting to thaw now, not much but level snow starting to reduce. There's still snow in the air but the temperature is definetly rising. If it freezes tonight we are all s*rewed................temp 0.4 now 0.5

Eastern side of Ryde - we had a brief sleet shower and the wind has swung round more to the east - snow is obviously slackening off now and BBC are indicating it's due to finish around 1300 - but regardless of that it's snowed!!!!! As I type this I can look towards Culver and there is a lightening of the sky so perhaps the heaviest is passed.

Oh dear, raining hard in Ryde.......I'm not convinced

Light rain on the Isle of Wight - despite all the opinions and optimism I suspect we are going to be lucky to see anything other than snow on the hills at Butser some 18 miles away. The sea remains a huge pool of (relatively) warm water and I do wonder what the models make of this
-
Met Office saying 8c by end of Monday for the South - it is the blind leading the blindly optimistic on the model discussions - one word "DOWNGRADE"

Ryde, Isle of Wight, frightening now, the gusts are increasingly strong. Whatever is happening inland the coast is really getting it and the real strong winds aren't here yet. This is serious now
