Very sad to here of a fatality and the other two injured girls. Glad I chose to stay home and not go out to celebrate a friends birthday

Local river went over previous high according to the Environment Agency
I really hope we don't get too much rain later or it will be more flooding and landslides. I am also worried about the stability of some of the trees around here due to the saturation of the ground.
Been raining on and off all day. Heavy rain from around 3pm with really intense rain around 5pm, finally easing about half an hour ago. It's still raining but not so hard. I don't want to be going anywhere early tomorrow morning in this area
Terrible night of constant rain. One guy I spoke to said he had 56mm overnight, mine showed over 40mm but had tipped over slightly. Schools shut, roads closed all over
I remember getting ready to go out that night and although it was dark it suddenly seemed really light outside. It must have been the denseness of the cloud reflecting down the sodium lights. The wind got worse all night. I remembered that I needed to phone my mother to arange details for the following day. I lived close to the pub so went back to phone her (pre mobile phones). I turned the corner and could walk up our street as the wind was so bad. My brother had come up to stay nearby for Christmas. My mum had dropped them at their rented cottage. She had to make a detour on the way for fallen trees and on the way back had to make further detours for more fallen trees on the route she had just taken. It was a very wild night and I felt mighty worried for Santa
Woken up during the night by a corking storm, really loud thunder and lots of flashes, followed by heavy downpour. Didn't expect it really but a pleasant supprise
Yep, you are usually lucky to just get your tyres wet but it was crazy today. Here is what it normally looks like, plus a video of the crazy folk week lot dancing in the ford
It' started to rain heavy again here
