    Not sure this is the right place apologies if not, but another interesting ice melt article on the bbc news website, the Markham ice shelf has completly gone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7595441.stm All this fresh water into the ocean will this effect the AO?

    I had 9 degrees first thing this morning and felt very autuminal along with some rain showers, seems to have cleared with some very welcome sunshine here at the moment.

    Amazing heavy showers for the commute home, also saw a lovely lightening bolt the tyoe that give you ARC eye! a lot cooler than it has been as well temps around 13 degrees today.

    Lovely start to the day at home, lovely sunny trip into work (Bristol) and now it's gradually got overcast and I have just noticed it's raining.

    My totally unscientific prediction of the winter 2008/2009 is for more of the same as last year, I am with TEITS and hope it isn't a harsh winter as the fuel bills will be crippling.

    Would it be fair to say there is a North South devide regards late flowering plants etc. daffs been out for ages here I noticed a field yesterday with the yellow flowers already out (Rape Seed??) It all seems to be happnening in a normal time frame around these parts. Although I like the colder weather I'm really looking forward to a bit of heat now.

    Yeah this winter has unfortunately gone pearshaped as much as it pains me to admit it, I want a hot summer now fed up of a none event winter.

    Chances of a white Xmas this year? minimal I would love to see several feet of even snow on Christmas morning, but don't think i will see it this year.

    The cold spell for me was a couple of frosts a bit of dandruff at midnight only to wake to rain!! and another lovely cold sunny day! nothing really spectacular to be honest.
