  1. Lots of flights diverting from Liverpool and Manchester airports into Birmingham and Heathrow
  2. http://news.sky.com/story/1155283/papua-new-guinea-hit-by-7-1-magnitude-quake
  3. Just stepped outside for the first time today and can safely say it's 'Daily Express Tropical' heat, just to the NW of Birmingham at present near the border with Warks.
  4. Indeed, it's a worry when posters are being chastised so openly for offering their interpretations of where the models maybe heading just because it differs to what they want to see.
  5. Clearly they're not, the potential is there to warrant and justify the yellow alerts.
  6. Indeed, to my relativly untrained eye additional snow fall on Monday looks like affected similar areas to those in the firing line on Friday, looks like it will be a quite significant fall as well.
  7. I'm in NE Brum at present, rain is steady but nothing out of the ordinairy
  8. BBC news reporting someone killed in floodwater in Shropshire
  9. Very happy to be under my 3rd storm of the day, first this morning in Wolves then a furhter 2 in Coleshill to the NW of Brum, hearing lots of reports of flooding in and around the 'Greater' Birmingham area and some of downed tress in North Wolves.
  10. Happy to report snow just north of Coleshill (approx 3 miles from the airport), falling on to already wet ground so nothing of note on the ground other than the remnants of last weekends snow
  11. Rain just north of Coleshill for those interested
  12. For those is the Sutton area bemused by the lack of precipitation, according to the radar you've been under a hole for a little while, you should see something wet falling by 1600hours
  13. Not sure Nick, the showers seem pretty much split in 2, snow over Manchester with rain/sleet over Liverpool, the Manchester snow does look to be headed East over toward Notts/Leics but the Liverpool rain looks to be headed right toward you and should turn readily to snow as it moves in, if the showers survive that long that is....
  14. Hi Strider, The MO only tend to issue Ice warnings for areas that have has had recent precipitation that is likely to freeze, I'm guessing that's why we've not had the warnings for Ice. Last night was exceptionally cold though, not sure if anyone has any reports of badly affected roads in the area?
  15. I', sure it was for 5-10 cm at lower ground level and 15 at higher ground, no mention of 20cm in any of MO's warnings for last Tuesday.....
  16. Birmingham and the northern extent of the Black Country are actually very lucky due to the height above sea level, this will often result in snow in marginal situations when elesewhere just rain will fall. In terms of the flow I would agree that a NW flow is good but the ideal is still to get a good slow moving channel low with the us at the tip of it. If you like the white stuff what we have got is on the face of it 2-3 weeks of sustained and entrenched cold so any precipitation will fall as snow, if like me you hate the cold then take comfort in GPs latest outlook that hints at a very rapid warm up when this breaks down.
  17. I've not seen a forecast from the MetO or BBC saying snow this morning, rain and a possible wintry mix but no mention of snow for your area....
  18. Fully agree, there's going to be 2 nights of sub zero temps prior to the snow arriving, the ground will be plenty cold enough
  19. KW, We usually do well from the North West, the fabled Cheshire Gap streamer should deliver for us. COYI by the way!!
  20. I;ve just driven from East Birmingham to Walsall and there's plenty of fog patches that are quite dense but nothing that you would class as widespread. Some ice forming as well notably in the fog patches but again nothing that appears to be widespread. No sign of any gritting activity on any of the roads either.
  21. Where've you seen a MO warning for the South East and Bucks for today? Always read the wording of the warning, just because one's issued doesn't mean they're promising it will happen, todays warning talk of a moderate risk of severe weather, nothing more and not for the SE or Bucks..
  22. Last year I had a 3 hour storm in Walsall, flooded road, houses struck the works, Solihull not even a drop of rain, I was a little smug that night. Currently in NE Bham and the skies are as threatening as they've been all day, could be our time???
