  1. I'm just to eh north eat of Brum under very dark skies, lights are on and it's giving just very light rain, looking forward to the main event this evening for round here me thinks...
  2. I'm in NE Birmingham today, had a sharpe shower just before midday and to be honest thought that would be that but the skies still look very menacing around here, after the shower passed it left behind a biblical plague of greenfly, they're everywhere
  3. My last post on the subject, but I urge you research the incident before laying jusgement at the MetO for not issuing a warning of a 'strong tornado', to my knowledge they have never issued such a warning and to my knowledge the Bham tornado was unprecedented in strength. Channel 4 aired a documentary about the incident some time after the day in which an experienced storm chaser from the US visited the scene, even he stated there was no way of warning the affected area in advance, suggest you look it up. BTW I know full well what happende don the day, I was assisiting in the clear up most of the night. Anyways back to tomorrow, safe to say Eastern England seems to be favourable for the brunt but should be a lot interest in the West in the build up seems to be the main call?
  4. Turn it in, what happened that day was totally unprecedented, even Torro were caught off guard, there was nothing in advance to suggest tornadic activity was likely.
  5. I'm sure it's nothing personal from the Met, they're just calling it as they see it, wouldn't be surprised to see some flash warning for the West Mids as tomorrow progresses. As for the Bham tornado I would have said the Met called it pretty well, there was showers and there was thunder storms, yes a tornado grew out of it but I'm not sure anyone could have forecast it or warned about it.....
  6. Light snow now in Walsall, 2 hours earlier than I thought!
  7. PhilB Astonishong photos there mate, many thanks for posting. I was in the city centre at the time in an Italian in the jewellery quarter. I too have been looking forward to a night storm all year and managed to get couped up away from a window seat, gutted i missed so you photos are very much appreciated.
  8. Roads in the West of Birmingham have been flooded this afternoon, nothing to major as far as I understand. I'm in Brum about 7 miles to the NE of the city centre, nothing of any real note hear just a few passing showers that were nothing to shout home about, funny how it can be so localised.
  9. Fantastic article in the Times, very well presented, informed and balanced.
  10. Dawlish et al Another thing that struck me was how quickly the media latched on to any impending cold spell, some of the tabloid headlines, especially in the Daily Mail/Express/Star were laughable, it was almost as though they were getting their info from the maddest snow/cold rampers on this board and reporting them as fact incorectly attributing them to 'met office sources'. In general I find the MO and BBC to be pretty near the mark both long term and short term, some of the mid term forecasts ie the month ahead or the next 16 days are questionable, but we all know how difficult that is to forecast.
  11. Not sure if this is the right place but torrential rain has brought about the postponment of the Portsmouth v Arsenal game.
