  1. -7.7 here now, sure it will beat -8.3 from last night
  2. Currently -6.2c here - been going up and down a bit for the last 2 hours - it did this a lot last night - why, when there are no clouds or wind about?
  3. Not had a look myself, but what about Parbold hill - its only 10-15 mins from you. I saw people there last night with skis and snowboards.
  4. Last night I got a min of -8.3c and today a max of 1.2c - it is now at -4.5c (not bad for 5:30)
  5. This afternoon I went from around 2c to -4c in around 2.5 hours, so it could be possible.
  6. Is that precipitation from the low to the east just starting to appear on the raintoday radar? http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ EDIT: my temp has also just started to drop very quickly and we are miles apart
  7. You can get a better view of what's going on here:- My link The low to the south seems to be holding it up - and we know how slow that thing has been moving compared to how it has been modelled. Sure that it will head south soon but there is a possibility that it may move further west than predicted before hand.
  8. I re-set my station up on the 1st and lowest recorded is 6.5c since then - was hoping to break that tonight but it is looking doubtful now. Still, it beats monday night when I was stuck around 2c and getting rain / sleet when everyone else was getting snow.
  9. Mine is doing the same gone from -5.1c to -3.2c in the last 3 hours - no cloud or wind though???
  10. Temp here -3.8c with a dp of -6c. Max temp today was 2.7c @ 13:22. Gonna get very cold tonight!
  11. Temp gone up to around 0c - can see the gaps in the cloud causing the fluctuations. If you look at this:- Sat Image is that swirling cloud NW of Scotland the start of a low forming, or am I imagining things?
  12. Not too sure - they are not supposed to. Looking at the track though - they are coming further south - and that low south of me now, seems to be pulling them inland more and more.
  13. Looking at this:- Link Does the convective cloud to the right of Newcastle (ENE?) seem to be really intesifying?
  14. I didn't try with my car - snow is deeper than my ground clearance Just had a shout from downstairs - my brew is going cold I need to get away from this screen.
  15. Nice pics - looks similar to this side of Wigan. I was a bit worried last night as I was reporting higher temps than you, but all OK in the end. Got a day off work too. Temp now 0.8c from around 1.4c 90 mins ago.
  16. Snow band has just passed to the south of me. Can see blue sky - forgot what it looked like Temp dropped to 1.1c now.
  17. Not yet, but there appears too be a clear patch to the north of manchester. Once those skies clear it is going to get COLD! May even be dark by the time it does so no further heating from the sun. EDIT: Clear of snow rather than cloud. The clearer skies are much further north.
  18. Getting very light here now and has done for a while. Can't see much more accumulating today. Current temp is 1.5c and the only way now is down down down.
  19. I read somewhere before that the emergency services had asked to only call if severe emergency or crime in progress.
  20. If you look at the visible you can see the high clouds being generated.
  21. It has dropped slightly here - but only to 1.6c no end in sight at the moment here. I know exactly what you mean - I drive a Lotus and with it being rear wheel drive and only weighing 800kg it can be difficult - one thing I get is when I drop down a gear the engine breaking will cause the back end to lock up - this has caught me out a few times- do you get this, or are you ok with the extra weight?
  22. I know, it is always warmer here than the surrounding areas. I am in a valley that opens on to the West Lancs Plain, which brobably isnt higher than 10m above sea level. Any Westerly component to the wind and I am usually screwed for snow. Luck is on my side today though
  23. Yes spot on I think. I'm a little worried about my temps though - they have risen to 1.7c but the wind is now a NNNE, so colder air should be upon me soon to replace what is currently here from the Irish sea.
