  1. Rainfall totals for Clacton-on-Sea in January 2009 45.8mm
  2. Hi Supercell, This is another good site always worth a look. i have used them before and found then very helpful although i did buy my DVP2 from the states when the exchange rate was much more favourable. http://www.skyview.co.uk/dept1/acatalog/Skyview_Home.html Hope you find it useful Regards BU
  3. Very impressive photo's, the cliffs and rocks make a great back drop for the angry looking sea
  4. Freezing fog all day top temp -0.2c and now dropped to -0.7c and that makes it the coldest day of this cold spell!
  5. Its been a really cold day in the fog here at Clacton top daytime temp 0.8c and its now dropped to -0.6c and still the fog persists.
  6. Rainfall recorded for 2008 at Clacton-on-Sea Essex January: 10.2mm February: 9.1mm March: 85.4mm April: 38.8mm May: 107.4mm June: 48.4mm July: 40.2mm August: 79.8mm September: 39.4mm October: 53.6mm November: 85.4mm December: 14.2mm Total 611.9mm
  7. Very light snow shower about three quarters of an hour ago which surprised me as normally with the wind in this direction the showers die out as they cross Norfolk and Suffolk so all in all a result BU
  8. Ok thanks for the reply it will be intresting to see what the cause is. BU
  9. Hi Paul, Hopefully you are the right person to direct this query at ? I have noticed that just off the coast of Clacton where i am there is a bright echo on the radar which has been there for a couple of weeks and i was wondering if it is a glich with the radar or would it possibly be due to the fact that there is work going on in that area building a wind farm which would obviously be quite high, the only thought i had about that theory however was that they don't seem to show up else where in the north sea ! I have added a screen shot to show what i mean so if you or anyone else has any idea's i would be interested to hear them. Many thanks BU
  10. Hi Andy777 I have bought all my Davis equipment from the USA which has worked out very well for me so i took a look at the price of the Davis 6470 - Temperature Probe and it was only $36 but when you add on the postage at $30 it is still cheaper than the UK but you will then run the risk of import duty or VAT which i can tell you is a bit of a hit or miss affair, sometimes you just get charged VAT other times nothing at all, and it all depends how much the item is marked up as etc. With a low cost item such as this it wouldn't be much but it would proabably bring the cost fairly close to the UK cost where as the more expensive items make it much more worth while as the saving is much more. The price Ross B has found looks good to me BU
  11. Hi Grab my Graupels Thats ok then i didn't know OON was taking a break  BU
  12. Hi Stormboy To get your website on the Netweather map you will need to contact Osbourne One-nil and he will sort it out. BU
  13. Hi Stormboy, Happy to help, im sure you will be very happy with your DVP2 it's the best weather station i have ever had and i look forward to seeing your website. BU
  14. I am very pleased with it in general, the only downside for me is that the wind speed is measured in kph instead of mph if i change it over to read in mph then everything else is changed to imperial measurement ie farenheit temp, inches barametric pressure and inches rain as you will see if you look at the readings in the US. Since i wrote the above at the start of this thread there has been a firmware update and now i can show on the webpage exactly what i am displaying on my console at home.ie wind speeds in mph and still show temp in degree's C which i think for us in the UK is much better. BU
  15. Hi Stormboy, I,m afraid you are going to have to splash some more cash, the expansion slot that you mention is were the data logger plugs in and it's from the datalogger that you connect to the pc also the weather link software comes with the data logger. Once you are connected to the pc you will be able to use you weather display and weather live. Hope that is of some help BU
  16. I hope i have got this in the right area, i have just had a friend contact me asking if i can get an accurate wind forcast for maritime area Thames/Dover for the neaxt few days. As yet all i can find is updates every hour for current conditions. Looking at land based forcasts Monday looks like the day to cross the channel but as i say maritime forcasts would be better but i can't find anything so if anybody knows where to find one please point me in the right direction. Many Thanks BU
  17. Hi Timmy H If you are buying the Davis VP2 you could do as i have and retro fit the fan which works as soon as the sun comes onto the solar panel when it is needed to circulate ambient air and then stops working when the sun goes down unlike the one that comes as standard (costing a lot more) which runs 24/7. I am well pleased with mine, in full sun the spec says it is accurate to within 1 degree where as without and just using the radiation shield you are looking at 4 degree's discrepancy. The cost in this country is about £125 or half that if you buy from the US including the postage. Food for thought BU
  18. Hi Winston, I'm glad i'm not the only one who should get out more lol I have emailed the Davis customer services to suggest that it would be good if they could display the data in both metric and standard as they do on the weather underground site then regardless of which side of the pond you are it would make sense.I also suggested that they provide more archive data ie month/year readings and also a hit counter. They thanked me for my input and said they would pass it on to the WeatherLink Server Administrator who does the coding. It is still in it's infancy so there are bound to be changes. BU
  19. It cost me £128 including postage +£24 import vat. I have bought 3 items from the same guy in the US and the second item i didn't get charged any import at all i think in some cases it's the luck of the draw. Thanks for changing the link BU
  20. That is exactly what i thought aswell but it is the case that you are limited to their page layout but you can place a link to their site within your own website and i did read that you can have what they called a window so if you have the know how and the website it would be possible to do it that way Bu PS Did you get my pm ok about changing my weather station link? Also i didn't buy it in this country they are too expensive !!
  21. I have just bought the new Davis Weather Link IP Datalogger which uploads the data from weather station every minute 24/7 without the need to have the pc running as i did with the previous datalogger which meant that while i was at work and during the night my web page was not up to date. The weather link IP datalogger is plugged into my modem/router and online all the time so if anybody wants to take a look click on the link and see what you think. The first page will come up and then you can go to the summary and also the world map to see other Davis Pro owners readings as well. I am very pleased with it in general, the only downside for me is that the wind speed is measured in kph instead of mph if i change it over to read in mph then everything else is changed to imperial measurement ie farenheit temp, inches barametric pressure and inches rain as you will see if you look at the readings in the US. http://www.weatherlink.com/user/clacton/ Take a look and see what you think Button up
