  1. we're at -8 / -8 still foggy, I reckon they're saving the best 'til last maybe Xmas Day?
  2. Well it's no fun (actually it is beautiful!) being in the middle of this LOW with all the showers going round about you Temps now -7/-7  already, think the high for the day was -1C at 7:30 this morning The Fog was/is eerie, but at one point this afternoon the sun was out above the fog and from our house you could see the tops of the hills is beautiful blue/white and the Village rooftops just then a blanket of whiteness.. I wish I could take proper photos! That and the icicles, it was like time had stood still. Anyway Jolly Good day for the central belt, Enjoy!
  3. very spooky here, still foggy - visibility about 100m OH is trying to get to work for the second time, early morning traffic was well caught out by that pasting @8 so he turned around - 1 hour to go 3 miles and back! - We don't have a 4x4 this year hmmm.. That's what it is, we've had one for the last 15 years the first year we decide to manage without one look what happens! PS: Anyone tried those Tyre Socks? they're supposed to be ideal for our sporadic climate here in the UK - let me know how you got on if you have. PS: traffic cams appear to be stuck @ around 8:30.. or is this usual when they're busy
  4. Nice Pics Stormy and Gilly, assuming this now because of the more NE/ENE flow? looks like a lot more showers are packing in up there too
  5. Morning Peeps! It was an interesting night here, being so close to the bottom of the low - Pete it was mesmerising at one point... the band seemed to anchored in Inverness and as the evening wore on it was really funny watching the bad sweep round like the hand of a clock, yet never move off the Inverness like it was the centre of the dial.. don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that I watched the band heading SW to NE only to see it switch more S to N as the low dipped a bit, just before they got here - Aberdeen a surrounding in about a 25 mile radius had the lowest temps, at about 2am it was at it's low for the evening -7/-7 However now that the low has dipped even further and become a bit more elongated the wind is more NE which is much more favourable to this area and yes that left us with a couple of inches around 8am - presently it's foggy and eerily calm temp: -1.8C DP: -2 Wind: flat Calm Pressure: 983 (Steady and the lowest)
  6. {catch} you just made me laugh, you certainly do seem to have the right perspective!
  7. Interesting stuff on here tonite, like I said earlier I'll swap you some DP for some precip, we appear to be fairly close to the centre of the low? temps have now started rising, it's currently -4.7 from a low of -5.3 @ 10pm DP up to -5 from -6 as for it now moving east, it's simply now our turn *please?* re: near centre: pressure is 984 and steady
  8. Did you get anything out of that recent band Richard, Aberdeen reporting rain showers but temp -1, DP -4 ? also I see on the laurencekirk/stonehaven traffic camera that it's snow there.. Somewhat frustrating indeed.. seems to be that it's everywhere around us again, but not here (though I was lucky catching that wee spell earlier) most of it should be S & S/W of us, or not get over the Hills in the first place.. still I'm not complaining at least (fingers xxxxd) it's looking like it might be an ice day here - so no thaw.. and it should keep those sledging runs open
  9. I'll trade you some dew point for some precip still at least we got a wee bit which wasn't forecast!
  10. It made it, touch and go as it missed Huntly.. started fairly lightly and now great big thick flakes doesn't look to be on for too long, but never mind, lucky to have caught an intense section of it methinks <_<
  11. I can see it now.. Over hills to SW (about 3 miles away) travelling very slowly or stuck! - It's the same band as yours I think Amanda.. can it get here
  12. It's getting quite dark here now too.. but even if it does get here those Heilans look to be taking a fair bit of intensity out of them.. Currently: Dry Temp: -0.5 (down from a high of -0.2 @ 11am) DP: -3 Pressure: 986.5 (lowest of the day) What a day for Highlands & Islands
  13. LMAO You got the neighbours up yet? heheh Morning too NorthernLights, I thought you'd managed to grab some of the showers, good stuff!
  14. Morning Richard, and CMD (sorry I called you GG before!) Yes Pete maybe.. but whatever, I don't know what'll happen with that either but no matter, there's enough for now & It'll be fun watching it develop later
  15. Nothing more here overnight, though temps have now risen from a low of -3 to -0.5, DP -3 Wasn't expecting anything as westerly's don't work for us here, too sheltered by the Hills, but I think Moray/Ellon managed to grab a few showers late last evening Congrats Pete and GG sounds beautiful, enjoy the day! My son was on phone last night organising friends for sledging today, so if you need me you know where I'll be and not that I want to pretend I know what I'm chatting about but what's that curly thing sitting above us? http://www.sat24.com/Region.aspx?country=eu&sat=ir&type=loop
  16. It's back on here, another of those showers? - I think the NE (Aberdeenshire) tip might just be being lucky catching some more of those? about 6-8cm lying now I reckon although it's very blowy and we already had 2-3cm.. anyway off out brave the elements - see you all later, enjoy
  17. Yay! Blitzen & GG It is very fast moving, temps dropping like a stone behind it.. wind chill now -7, temp -1.5 DP -2 anyhow at least I should get out now to collect child, lots of warm clothes on - (still leaving the car at the end of the road though!, will get it tomorrow) I feel a Snowman coming on later
  18. band cleared - but there is another big blob of heavy shower over us right now Richard, it might reach Aberdeen too!
  19. lightened up here too now, it was horizontal and complete whiteout for about an hour and half, still snowing and blowing though, Pete T is there much in the following showers? the wind is now more northerly, Temp 0 DP -1 - Windchill -6C:cold:
  20. got this link from someone else earlier http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ seems to be showing the band (and the showers) very clearly Yea, seems like they were just waiting to see if it was going to fall as rain/sleet/snow.. well it's definitely Snow here so good look to you in Fife, Embra and Glasgae
  21. Started about 11 as snow grains/sleet - I was Inverurie... ... just got home complete whiteout and car abandoned at the end of my road! Check out the Huntly traffic cam for how it is. Came down very quickly gotta go back out later too so hope the blowing has stopped by then added.. looks like it's reached Aberdeen now too !!
  22. LS, I think we're the tester for your warning? - I see ours was only issued at 5am, if we do get it as snow, then so should you hopefully! but maybe our surprise was the previous 2 days.. we'll see
  23. Well I'm blaming bairn, dog and OH - all are up with the larks this am for some reason! Pete we had a couple showers over night and they just about remained as snow, the temp was +0.8, but on sticking head out the window I could hear the trees dripping while the snow was still falling and snow on roof was still frozen, so it's just kept the level at what it was, looking very festive out there. I see the warning for today now includes Grampian. It remains to be see what this band will give, but the showers packing in behind it should be more interesting - the cold air arrives with them - (*I think anyway, I'm not too good at chart reading* ) - anyway Pete I hope they're not all rain for you, keep nowcasting for us
  24. Hiya LadyP Congrats on the house move, that's a beautiful spot looking over the Dee, - bet it's a bit quieter than the City Centre! temps have risen here too and are at their high of the day 0.3C DP 0 - can't see much now as we don't have street lights but showers have stopped for now, and I don't think the last ones had turned to rain yet.. The latest "event" definitely seemed to have been more coastal favoured - we certainly haven't got 3 inches here even though it snowed lightly most of the day, and we too got our heaviest showers around dusk, I think it's safe to say we have about 4cm where I am: if you go to traffic cam Scotland and draw a straightline between the Huntly and Aberdeen cams then mark the mid point.. viola (outskirts of Kemnay on the Alford road - to those that know the area)
  25. Any warnings that do come out for here now are definitely a wee bit too late for the evening commuters Attached current pictures from the Huntly Traffic Cam and the Aberdeen->South Main Dual Carriageway
