Very fine snow falling here. Won't add much to what's already fallen but every little helps!
-
How likely is it that the front which is shown in these shots will disintegrate or weaken/fragment as it moves North? Sorry if its a daft question!
-
Good to here, LeeSnowFan! I'm stuck here in Dewsbury praying for it to start snowing properly as theres a few flakes blowing in the wind at the moment so by the sounds of it, it could be soon. I think there's more chance of it snowing at my house now in Skelmanthorpe though! LOL!
-
Colder denser air this side of the pennines along with a freshening easterly and the front should pivot somewhat.
Ah.Thanks!
-
This may be a daft question, but if the front is moving at quite a speed, then why would it stall over us?
I have heard of fronts slowing down before, but what would actually make it stall?
-
It's is very lightly snowing here in Skelmanthorpe.
Must admit to being slightly disappointed that we had 7hrs of snow last night which has left nothing but a dusting. Can't help but feel its going to be another wet squib today with an other pathetic amount to show for hours of snow by tomorrow. Just seen the BBC forecast and as the front moves over us it shows it breaking up. Typical.
-
Just had a look at the model thread and a lot of murmuring about the front that was expected over the UK has moved west meaning Ireland is in the firing line now. Much as I would love 25cms of snow, it looks as though we may not end up with as much here on the mainland as predicted. *sigh*

Reckon it'll reach Huddersfield...?
-
What's the chances of us in the far west of West Yorkshire getting some more of the white stuff? Had a couple of cm's this morning/ lunchtime but its melted on the paths, and has had a fairly rapid melt on the grass up until now. I know the temp is dropping so what we've got we'll probably keep now, but I'm sure I seen that we're due some more tonight!
Also, is there something big brewing for this weekend? Saw some pretty big percentage rates for snow over a 24 hr period from Friday morning, but it appears to have been pushed back and downgraded! :-(
-
Nothing here on the east outskirts of Huddersfield. The Huddersfield 'Snow Dome' has obviously been erected!
-
I'm keeping my eye on the raintoday radar and precipitation seems to be fizzling out just the other side of the Pennines. :-(
-
Patches of slight dusting here. Wasn't expecting much from last night so I suppose it's a bonus. Be lovely to see more tonight and tomorrow but I'm used to being disappointed when I open the curtains on a morning!
-
Where are you Snowflake88? Doesn't show locations on my mobile!
-
I would love this snow to make it this far inland, but so many times I've been disappointed as the snow showers have faded out before they've got here from the East, or come against the Pennines and been swallowed up from the west/northwest. I'm not getting my hopes up this time.

I've asked this question in the regional thread, but think its probably more linked with this one!
I have checked the netweather forecast for my area and it shows precipitation of some kind for all of Saturday, but the MetOffice has absolutely nothing shown - why the discrepency?
-
Checked on the Netweather forecast and it has high chances of snow/precipitation all day on Saturday for my location, but the Metoffice showing absolutely nothing until Sunday - why the disagreement? Sorry if its a daft question!
-
Well, judging by the lack of activity on here, we'll probably end up with the odd snow shower here on the edges of West Yorkshire, if anything at all. Still at least it'll be cold! :-)
-
Couldn't disagree more, Easterlys do deliver here. If that was the case how did we get so much snow in February 2012?
We got virtually nothing here.
-
Will be lovely to have some fresh cold weather, snow would be a bonus, but not sure if we'll be lucky to get much here in West Yorks (too far from the East coast for anything from the East, wrong side of the Pennines for any thing from the West, and too far South for anything from the North). Still, anything is better than this mild mush we seem to have had for weeks. :-)
-
How's it looking for West Yorkshire today? Not really had much so far apart from a couple of frosts and lots of rain! Would be nice to get a little bit of the white stuff to start winter off with a bang!
-
I genuinely don't get it. Just checked on the met office and the warning extends all the way across Yorkshire for snow today and tomorrow. Yet put in my postcode and it shows for sleet until 6pm and then cloudy skies for the next 5 days.
Which models do they use because they seem to contradict themselves every other minute?
-
Damp, cold, foggy and drizzling here. Didn't think we'd get the snow. Now really holding up much hope of getting anything tonight either.
Ah well, here's to summer 2012!
-
Stopped here. Less than 5mm. Dead loss, expected so much more. :-(((

I promised myself I wouldn't do this, but what d'ya reckon the amount for Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield (165m) could be over today and tomorrow?
I only ask as I have a course on Tuesday in York and I'm wondering if it may get cancelled!
