  1. I must admit I enjoyed 2006 up here. Lovely warm weather up here, unlike the last couple of years. I bought a gas BBQ in 2007 following 2006's great outdoors cooking weather, and hardly used it last year. Think I fired it up once! :(

Temp wise, I love my cold winters, but I love my hot summers more. Temps of 25degs+ for days on end are an ideal for me. I don't even mind the hot nights anymore as I bought a really good fan last year! LOL :)

  2. Woken up this morning to a beautiful crisp sunny day. A few flakes of snow have fallen in the night so there a dusting on the car, but no more than that. It is cold though - one of those morning to take the dog for a walk (if I had one! LOL) :pardon:

Seems to be a lot of folks from the East on here lately - obviously a few over in the West are not liking whats happening weather-wise! Really chuffed some are still getting decent falls of the white stuff. I notice that the forecasts appear to have it coming further inland from tomorrow - any guesses as to how much we'll end up with here on the Western edge of Yorkshire? It'd be lovely to see out winter with a bang!

  3. Hi all, snowed continuously through last night, gave us another 3cms cover this morning. Much wetter and heavier snow than last Tuesday. Got about 1/2 a mile going to work before having to turn back, and leave my car at the edge of the village where I live. Absolute chaos on the roads. No buses because they're getting stuck on the hills coming into the village, cars blocking roads actually in the village. And it seems to be coming down harder than it was earlier.

Just found out that 1 of my friends has written her car off in an accident on her way to school. She was fine, shaken up though - made it into school only to be told 10 minutes ago that they were shutting because staff couldn't get in. Gutted for her!

Actually, on a slightly different note - where is this strong Easterly wind that everyone forecast? We didn't seem to get any of that last night, and its falling straight today, much like last Tuesday when we got a right dumping.

  4. Hi all, Still snowing after nearly 8 hours and we now have a depth here (HD8) of 6.5in. Its been a constant moderate snowfall with a couple of heavier bursts every hour or so. I have noticed the wind seems to have increased and we're going through one of the heavier periods of snow at the moment. I have just spoken to a friend who is in Holmfirth and she has a snow depth of 10in lying - I forgot to ask if that was just lying or where it had drifted as it is a bit exposed up there.

I'm hoping for more of this for the foreseeable future - great to observe weather like this!
