  1. I saw one last year in the summer - flew over low and scared the living sh** out of me and my cat who happened to be out in the garden at the time. Also spotted one recently this year. So Bromley also is home to the heron!!!!
  2. *Angel makes mental note to buy air con unit before they all sell out again*
  3. I hope you are right - I hate scorching summers!
  4. I thought maybe that but this one definitely looks like a hybrid canary that I had once - and the beak is not as sharp and pointy as most finches - I first thought of a chaffinch, but its not that I don't think.
  5. Looks like a hybrid canary to me that has escaped its bars and perches!
  6. It has been snowing here in WC1 London for about 30 mins now - only lightly though.
  7. I found this article rather interesting - it's worth casting your eye over .. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../ixnewstop.html
  8. Music always stirs the heart - personally (and I know it will be unpopular) I love Techno, love the beat, love to work out to it, it is like revitalisation to me!!
  9. The question to ask youself is - if man was not 'developed' and lived naturally as the animal population would do - would be be facing increased temperatures and fierce weather trends now, drought situations, etc. It is ludicrous to even think that we would. Of course man has added to the global warming factor in a major way - to deny that is not logical.
  10. I believe in precognition - one incident with me was when I was out riding on my horse Holly - it was getting late in the day, so I turned and headed for home. I decided to cut through a set of woods that we normally take which knocks about 30 mins off the trek home, but as I neared the woods, I felt very apprehensive and a bit 'sick' in my stomach. I stopped just outside of them and considered the matter and then decided to take the roads home instead. (Holly was nervous too but that was probably her sensing my body language). Turns out that a person was attacked in those woods later that evening. So yes, I do believe in precognition, or maybe I was just lucky.
  11. WoW - lovely photo OON - looks like a glorious summers' day!
  12. I need to do mine - but the flymo is set really low and I don't know how to adjust the grass cut height of it - my cats are making a muddy track down one side of the garden which is really starting to look odd as well! (and it is not even a straight line!!!!)
  13. A very peculiar view - however, I prefer the company of my pets to most humans also.
  14. Well I don't have kids as I have never wanted them, and my next door neighbour is of the same ilk, but she is more Eco than me - I do care about our planet regardless of not having kids, so I think that statement was a bit too wide ranging GW - however, as I have said before, I totally agree with all you are saying and I do feel for the youths to come who will grow up in what will probably be quite a barren world if global warming continues to rise.
  15. I think anyone who denies that global warming is happening now has their head stuck firmly in the sand. It is obvious to any layman that it is warming up ... this year should prove very interesting - hotter than last year, more droughts - and it will become worse. If countries like China continue to pump out obnoxious gasses into the atmosphere, you can hardly be surprised when the Earth's climate as a whole changes. We are polluting this planet like no tomorrow, and no one will bother to take any real steps to address the situation until it is, of course, far too late.
  16. London : calm at the moment Light Showers 13°C Barometer: 987.6 mb Dewpoint: 11° Humidity: 85% Wind: 31 mph WSW
  17. I totally agree with all you have said Mick - it just seems that some people will not accept that we are the main cause of this predicament and prefer to adhere to the fact that it is due to 'natural causes'. China and USA are the biggest polluters by far and as I have said before, I doubt anything constructive will be done about it until it is of course too late. However, we all adapt - evolution is a logical thing.
