Good example of altitude and UHI effect on the way to work today: At home some light snow and a patchy dusting. Sevenoaks to Orpington (110m), moderate snow and up to 2 - 3 cm coverage. 10 miles from central London inwards, just drizzly and dreich.

There were a few snow showers during the night which gave a very fine dusting but my part of Kent has not been as badly affected as the media reports. Despite this South Eastern Trains have suspended rail services between Tonbridge and Hastings for the 2nd day running
