  1. Snow on the ground, no end in the reliable time frame. Snow in the forecast for the coming week, but best of all, Leeds Utd through to the next round after beating ManU at Old trafford. What a spectacular start to 2010. One very happy Leeds lad.
  2. Well first of all a Happy New Year to you all! Here in Wortley we have a sugar coating on the ground. Nice to see coming down as we watched the fireworks over Leeds city centre. I was thinking about going to bed but that disturbance that has formed to the east of Scotland has got some good rotation and is really beefing up the showers which are making there way slowly towards the north of our region. Is it worth giving it a an hour or so to see if it increases shower activity on Yorkshire or is it just expected to fizzle away to nothing before getting here? Regards Craig.
  3. More central Leeds than south but can only just make out that something is falling by standing out side and feeling it fall on my face. Can't reallt make anything out on the lampost. Will update if anything changes but here on fairly low ground (wortley) I wouldn't be expecting anything more than a wintry mix unless the precip beefs up a bit. Regards Craig
  4. Freezing rain has left coat of ice on the roads around wortley. Left here at 19:30 ish for a 5 min trip up the road to farnley where there was a bit of light sleet. On the way back it was what seemed like drizzle but the road I live on is like a sheet of glass at the moment. Suspect elevation is playing a big part in the final chance of a white Christmas. Nice one G M G on seeing snow now and any others that have been lucky enough to have a propper white one. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.
  5. Out with the dog this morning here in Leeds. Fog rolled in from time to time but it didnt spoil the seasonal scenery. Dog ran himself ragged with his mate before sitting down to let me know he'd had enough and wanted to go back home to the warmth!
  6. Well decided to get the dog out in the snow before the thaw set in. Christmas card scenery out there. The fog started to come in just as his mate turned up for a play. He ran himself ragged and in the end he sat down and was ready for home! What a great Christmas eve morning!
  7. We have about 3 inch's down on the ground now. Off out with the dog in 10 mins or so. Will try to get a few pics up when I get back.
  8. Well that was an unexpected suprise! Here in Wortley, just a couple of miles from the city centre we had about an inch, turning slightly patchy since last Thursday. Last night gave about an inch abut this rather large shower that has just moved through our great city had deposited another one and a half inche's. The dog is loving it, going mental in the snow. Boxer dogs do great impressions of Kangaroos! Hope everyone has a great Chrimbo Eve. Craig.
  9. Thank you kindly Shugee sir. I shall put that to good use over the next few days! Does this method replace the ignore button that used to be visable? From what I remember it used to be uder each persons avatar. Cheers
  10. Mods/Admin, As above I dont see an ignore button anymore. It comes in very handy when model watching thread(s) are busy. Cheers
  11. Good afternoon all, WhenI went to bed last night, I was under the impression that there was a band of rain moving in from the west that may bring a bit of patchy light sleet or snow before turning to rain. Now I have woken up to light snow with the odd decent size flake in and a weather warning from the met of possible heavy snow for most of the day. What changed and when? Regards Craig
  12. Woke up to a very thin slushy covering in Leeds then a quite heavy snow shower from 7:40 to 8:15. Now the sun is out again and it's melting very quickly. As daft as it sounds, it's quite warm in the sun when the wind drops.
  13. Also felt here in Leeds. My first ever one and hopefully the last. Not a pleasent experiance!
  14. 2 Light showers and 1 moderate 1 that gave a very slight patchy dusting throught the night at seacroft (working a night shift). Back home in wortley, there wasnt any sign of snow, but a couple of light showers have fallen in the last half hour although nothing has settled.
  15. Hi Jed, I think elevation is playing a huge part at the moment as here in wortley (approx 2 miles from the city centre) it is still raining with just a hint of sleetyness in the heavier bursts.
  16. Yes they are- Some heavy falls of snow are expected giving further accumulations of 2-5cm, and locally 10-15cm on higher ground. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further information on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads. Taken from the mett office.
  17. I can only concur with Pennine ten foot drifts above post. We have had rain in Leeds since about 13:45 and even in the slightly heavier bursts I have failed to observe a single flake. If you look at http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation...sp?ID=I90580501 (this is the nearest station I can find to my house) you will see that the dew point is just above freezing and falling so there is a very small glimmer of hope. For us lot in or around the Leeds area we really nead the heavy stuff to move north east and at the moment it looks (to my untrained eye) to be on a more easterly route.
  18. Hi ck24- I have just finished work and have driven from seacroft to wortley and it has rained all the way home.
  19. Sleet at 18:30 here in wortley (approx 2 miles from Leeds city centre) after blue skies all day.
  20. Rain on and off here in Leeds which has a hint of sleet in the heavier bursts although, it is only a hint and seems to very quickly turn back to rain.
  21. Hi yeahbabyyeah, I think this is the chart you are looking for-1st oct 1995 looks like a S/W flow to me so no snow from that. Here is the link for you and others to find historical charts.- http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/dathistcharts.asp
  22. Thunder, lightning and very heavy rain in Leeds an the moment.
  23. A storm just outside Leeds brought thunder and lightning earlier this afternoon. Paul Hudson (our local bbc weatherman) said that there was damage to cars caused by large hail in the York area.
  24. The overnight rainband has now cleared Leeds. Quite bright out there now with little kinks of blue sky. Temp 10 oC.
  25. A mix of rain and sleet on and off this morning. Very briefly turned to wet snow at 10am. Mainly rain so far this afternoon.
