  1. Thanks, Kold - hoping the air temp will stay low, then... I have loved the powder here on the South coast - never seen it before! Usually any snow in Soton has a crust on it! Anybody else heartily sick of people moaning about southerners being wimps? As the guy from TfL said, we have a huge number of people trying to do millions of journeys in a very small area - any breakdown or accident is going to have huge knock-on effects, like those poor people who got stuck on the motorway overnight a few years back. I also bet these people wouldn't be happy to pay taxes for snow ploughs to be kept in storage for 20 years! Kate
  2. Very light snow has just started again in Southampton, after a break of 4 hours. Temp 0.0C and rising, dew point -3.4C BBC weather at 11 seemed to think the winds would veer round to SW overnight and the fronts would be coming in as rain What do the models suggest? Kate
  3. Hmm, I'm gonna have some nice new clients for Employment Tribunals, then? £66K each, if they can prove their kids' schools are closed or that leaving their homes was unreasonable in the conditions. Can't wait!
  4. One can only hope so, tasty. I've just seen on the news that some people thrown off the buses in central London had 25 mile walks home. I wouldn't work for someone who expected me to risk my life for presenteeism. No wonder people would rather be on the dole
  5. Well, I was beginning to think I'd have no excuse to stay at home tomorrow but it is finally snowing again here in Southampton - can just about see it in front of the streetlights, but they're fat and fluffy. Clouds still thin and patchy but sky to the NE looking orange and promising.... -2.2C, dew point -6.0 and rising, humidity 75% and rising Kate
  6. Blimey, I stop looking out the window for 10 miinutes and miss it! There is the faintest dusting on the ground. Sadly, the sky is completely clear again and the stars are twinkling. Just getting the tailends of the showers coming along the Thames, I suppose. -2.4C, + windchill = -7C. Kate
  7. BO, someon in Pompey has just reported snow on the SE thread! Fingers crossed... Off to walk the dog in a bit - bring it on!!!! Kate
  8. WAAAYYY, Pompey! 1.9 and rising here in Soton - I suppose that's the increasing cloud cover? Kate
  9. Hopefully the met office thing is while they change the warning to orange for more counties. Us on the south coast need that stream to veer more northerly - it is just not fair if it all streams to the north! Kate PS - can new members please put their locations in their profiles, please - no point reporting if we don't know where you are!
  10. "from looking at the forecasts i feel im gonna miss out again this time round always the way always just on the edge of it all doh.gif im not gettin my hopes up anyway lol for everyone that is lucky enough to see any, enjoy smile.gif" Coxxy, I feel the same sense of foreboding - all those big blobs of white seem to head off northerly just before they hit us! Let's hope they're wrong... Having said that, it looks like half an hour's drive to the north there would be proper sledging potential, though I'm never sure of the wisdom of driving to chase weather - specially if I say it's too bad to get to work...! Kate
  11. I can officially report a few snow grains blowing about in Southampton! 1.7C and falling (from high of 1.9), humidity 53% and dew point -6.9. Son has gone outside already!
  12. Fatherof2, the best snowfun I ever had was in Dovercourt, spending Xmas with my grandparents in the 70s/80s. 2 foot!!! Never see anything like that down here. Kate
  13. Cheers, neil! Don't think I've ever seen white on that radar before - hence not recognising it! Seems to miss me, but looked like a stationary snowcloud dumping on Salisbury plain all afternoon, so praps I will go to work after all! Kate Blimey, and I thought /I/ was a ramper...!
  14. wow, is that one of the subscription forecasts, neilsouth? What is the time of that pic? Kate
  15. Cheers, you too, dogs! Snowking has made me feel guilty that I haven't done any work yet this weekend - I'll be reading the reports all tomorrow! Kate (not sure if she owns a pair of gloves anymore!)
  16. Wallop, that is either really bad luck (if it's really necessary; it will be hell) or really good luck (if you can call it off; you don't need to feel guilty). I'm hoping to avoid driving to Salisbury on Monday morning, however the ground must be a little white to justify "working from home" (ie, taking the dog for lots of walks!) Either way, Ma-In-Law has banned us from visiting her (down the road in Fareham!) so that's a result! Kate
