If he did get it from the Olympiakos owner that will be pretty much towards the end of the 2 week window as the isolation for the few payers affected was due to end at 22:30.
Just before after the Arsenal statement in fact.
He has been ill for a number of days from what I understand and has only just got the test results.

That is because Arteta has got it from exposure to Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis, has to call into question as to why the Olympiakos v Wolves match went ahead tonight?

I think the Premier League should help out the lower divisions as a gesture of solidarity .
They can easily afford to and should get together and put some money in the pot.
Actually they are suppose too, when the premier league was set up they promised @5% of revenue to go to grass roots football, they made one small payment and never paid again. If they paid what they owed now it would be hundreds of millions.

I think most clubs from the Championship downwards would go bust if they had an extended period without playing games and having no support. A lot of clubs have bad finances and fans are still their biggest source of income. The premiership will want to keep as much of its money coming in as possible. I expect football to be the last sport to be played behind closed doors here.
Yes it would impact on smaller clubs ho rely on money coming through the gate to pay their players, but i has to be put in to perspective.
The news coming out of Italy is that the death rate has increased significantly as there are not enough ventilators so people are being left to suffocate. There is also talk of this virus mutating in situ, 40% of those hospitalized are under the age of 64.

Big horse racing fan, as some know on here, but yes it is concerning. 200,000plus descended or descending on Cheltenham; many of the Irish stay for the whole 4 days. Having been a regular visitor to the Festival, esp Gold Cup day, i know full well how the town is rammed for the week. In the town in the eve, after racing, it really is a massive social gathering, and plenty of racegoers mingle very closely, shall we say.
Just posted this in the Cheltenham thread :
The only winner I can see at Cheltenham is odds on :
'Iris the Virus' to win by a short head beating 'Head in the sand' !!!
Its like 2 sets of people living in 2 different worlds at the moment - I am minded of HG Wells words from WOTW when the martians had just arrived.

Or now is a time when not being part of Europe and being on an island is helping...
If the gov went to the same lengths as Italy at any stage it will cause serious problems.
I think we are just putting off the inevitable, a 2 week break now and I can't see why financial markets can't shut too? Would have a massive benefit in delaying the spread until the warmer weather.
I do believe humans are adding to the problem by creating its on virtual disaster via the financial markets.

What do you propose?
We are always being told how close our links are to the rest of Europe and how we are all Europeans, now is the time to show that by a Europe wide lockdown.

Can I ask what peoples thoughts are on this :
I received a answerphone message at 5.45pm on Thursday evening my doctors practice with the following information:
'All my medication has been stopped / no further medication will be prescribed until I attend a medication review at the surgery.'
I am a patient that could be considered within the 'at risk' group with the out break of Corona Virus, my medication is for asthma,
Just heard it going through my voice messages - I am in shock !

That's the one. Started with me Boxing day and reached a peak a few days later.
Mine started a fe days before Xmas, what was different was no head cold as such, just slightly high temp, muscle aches, then a dry cough and as I do have a condition I need to take some 'preds' for about a week due to tightness of breath - But I stress nothing too serious but the obvious lack of anything from the nose was the unusual bit??

Something does not add up with regards to the number of deaths reported between Italy and Germany. Are we looking at 2 strains here? If so, we need to pray the lesser strain gets a foothold first.
Yes I thought that - I had a very mild cold at Christmas which had similar symptoms to what could be a lesser strain?

Well Italy are allowing the fights to leave, and they weren't only landing in the UK ...seems lots of Governments are struggling with what a quarantine actually is.
From Milan!!
In reality I think that world leaders have already decided to let the virus run its course and do its thing.
We are the pigs in their laboratory!!!

"Acted so slowly"? What would've been your plan of action?
Containment as soon as the cases emerged in Italy, travel should have been stopped and anyone with contact with that area self isolation, that would have massively delayed the spread and got us closer to the Spring. I don't think the action was taken simply due to money and the markets - But its going to turn out a foolish choice IMO.

I don't understand it either. Dangerous game they're playing here. People will simply not forget deaths of friends and family that could have been prevented.
The people I've spoken to have mentioned China and how it's 'their fault' too. In the eyes of a large section of the public, China will be a pariah state.
The only positive I can see is that the numbers are staying low in the southern hemisphere with the warmer weather so maybe the onset of Spring will reduce some of the impact?

Not posted on this topic before so apologies if its all been said.
It is unbelievable to me that our government, that of the US and the EU have acted so slowly and allowed this to become a true pandemic without any real containment in place. It seems the decision was made (probably between global leaders) early on to allow it to go straight to the delay phase. 2 weeks ago 350 cases in Northern Italy, no travel restrictions, there still isn't. Flights are still coming in from China / Iran / Japan etc, no monitoring at UK airports or ports.
Today's large gatherings such as football matches will only have made matters worse?

Maybe someone could explain to me, why with Amber Weather warnings in force with hurricane force winds expected to reach their peak during tomorrow afternoon. 3 televised football matches are due to take place :
Premier League
4.30pm - Manchester CityvWest Ham United
2pm - Sheffield UnitedvAFC Bournemouth
Sky Bet Championship
1.30pm - MillwallvWest Bromwich Albion
Is the weather going to avoid those areas? Surely this is fool hardy and dangerous simply in the pursuit of money?

COVID-19 Pandemic

I raised the issue on here the other day that I felt I had a cold/flu at Christmas with very similar symptoms to Corona Virus, a few others said they or someone they knew had similar symptoms around the same time. Since then I have posted on Reddit, and the thread and related ones are literally inundated with similar stories. In the US they have been reporting the symptoms from early December whereas the UK seems to return the same thing about 2-3 wks later around Christmas.
On looking into this a bit further it seems the 1st case identified in China was 17th November, presumably it had been around for a while. So my question is : Is there any merit on me and people like me having a test to see if we have the anti-bodies showing we have or have not had the virus already, indeed is that possible?
If so wouldn't it be helpful to the powers that be to help with their calculations with peaks etc?
Just a thought, as I would like to know if I have had it or not?
