My weather station recorded a top temperature of 4.8C today between 10-10:30. At the time I was struggling to walk up and down the exposed slopes of Royston Heath (with my dog and his brother who I'm looking after for the weekend) with sideways rain of such intensity it carried out an efficient and inexpensive facial skin strip - both labs absolutely loved the wild weather and raced around like highly strung racehorses when they get the wind under their tails! Overnight low of 1.7C occurred at 1am and coincided with the drop in pressure to 980.0hPa. Since then pressure has risen and currently back up to 1002.5hPa and rising rapidly. Highest gust recorded in my sheltered location was 36mph at 16:30. Now quieter with mean at 11mph gusting to 25-28mph. Since midnight 3.4mm of rain has fallen. Current temperature is 2.9C and I'm freezing, so off to light the fire. I hope those of you living at higher elevations get the snow you wish for

Max temp today 9C at 12.01, currently 2C with 89% humidity. Its breezy, occasionally gusting around 26 mph from the west, followed by another reasonably quiet spell. Pressure now down to 980.7hPa falling rapidly. Am getting ear ache now. We've had 3.2mm of rain today, which is quite impressive considering the November total is 8.2mm. I confess I'm relieved to share this banal data from safe and unremarkable (weather-wise) Bedfordshire than from the Moray coast where my closest friends live. Portsoy is just to the east of them and reported a wind gust of 93.9mph circa 6pm. There are trees down everywhere, damage to roofs and too dangerous to step outside the house. They live within sight of the sea and have some large trees close to their house, so it must be a very wild and worrying day and night for their small community. The last I heard from them several hours ago and long before that 93.9 mph gust was reported, was that power was off. I haven't been able to contact them since so hope they are ok.

It was 6.7c when my alarm went off at 05:30 this morning; certainly the dog walk didn't feel too bad and no frost on fields, gardens nor ice on windscreen. Weather station said the high achieved today was 7.1c at midday. Currently 3.8c with 91% humidity, some very light cloud. No wind atm but what little there has been in last hour (1 mile per hour) is from a WSW veering South Westerly. Pressure has been slowly but consistently falling from Monday evening's high of 1033.8hPa and currently 1018.7hPa falling slowly. No rain has fallen in the last 24 hours. Nothing wintery showing on the MetO app for my village. Friday forecast to be 7c with lots of rain symbols. Saturday 6c, rain and a yellow wind warning. My forecasted 'gales, rain or showers' suggests we don't qualify as a hill *sighs*

It has felt bitter every time I opened an outside door today but having actually gone out for the evening dog walk it feels milder than yesterday. Today's sun helped a top temperature of 9c at 13:20 after an overnight low of -0.1c at 01:30. This was part of a range of 0.something temps between 11:30 last night and 05:30 this morning. Woke to a light frost. Current temp is 7c with 87% humidity. Another light wind day, with no records for a good part of the day. Currently WNW at 2mph. Average over 10 minutes is 0.1 Pressure 1029.6hPa falling slowly. There's been 0.2mm of rain recorded although that's more likely frost melt? Took a few photos around 10am this morning, just really to compare the amount and colour of leaves with previous years on same dates. These two show lingering frost in the shade and the moon picked up by phone camera.

A bright sunny day with a top temp of 10.1 at 13:30 but as that coincided with a NE gust of 10mph it felt chilly in unsheltered areas. This after an overnight low of 1.8c and an early light frost. Current temperature is 2c with 92% humidity. Apart from the brief moment of wind in double figures, its been falling light from around 2:30 pm onwards and with no recoded readings since 6pm. Pressure currently 1033.5hPa rising slowly. A total of 0.2mm has fallen in the last 24 hours, at 07:00 apparently, although I must have blinked and missed it. The moon is bright and casting lots of shadows again tonight , shining through high thin broken cloud.

Glad you had good weather for going up the lighthouse, the views must have been spectacular today. Ha, the only difference in our photos is that you've captured a couple of seagulls - and the bushes have grown a bit!

Lucky you! I hope you had a great time. This is a special place in our family - my father was born and brought up on the Isle of Portland and we still have family there. Have wonderful childhood memories of watching awesome waves at Chesil Beach on windy days and on stormy days watching from the safety of the Heights. Did you climb Pulpit Rock out at the Bill for a bit of fun? I last dragged myself up it on Remembrance Sunday in November 2016, the day I took this photo from the ceremony at the Portland Cenotaph (my dear dad wanted to be at the ceremony to remember his school friends who died in the second world war).

Depending on the charts I've seen it appears I'm either too far west for snow and too far east for snow so expecting nothing more interesting that cold rain - anything white falling from the sky will then be an unexpected bonus. Today's sun got my weather station top temperature recording up to 12.2c at 14:04. Currently 6c with 98% humidity. Very little wind again at 6 mph. Pressure is 1026.7hPa steady. There was 0.2mm of rain at 4am apparently, although by the time I surfaced at 5:30 I couldn't see any evidence of that. A slight early morning frost, and noticeably less than yesterday's. The weather highlight was a second day of sunshine - a bonus after the recent dark heavy cloudy period.

Today, by which I mean Wednesday 10th November, has been a damp, dreich, flat miserable day weather wise. Hours of fine drizzle and feeling chilly with a max of 13c and 11:59. I hope Sunday night was quieter for you? I also hope your poor boy has settled now and his stomach is back to normal. Mine was in meltdown again Sunday evening; we had a neighbouring village firework and despite Classic FM turned up very loud and around 3-4 miles away he could still hear enough to get a massive anxiety attack again. He's also been very clingy since; needing constant strokes and reassurance; he's taken to leaning against my legs with my foot pinned to the floor by him deliberately standing on it. It's almost as though his own home no longer feels safe. He'll get relaxed just in time for the ASBO neighbour to let off New Year fireworks I expect Today turned out to be mostly sunny and feeling pleasantly mild. Same here yesterday BB. With my poor dog already in a state of extreme anxiety after Thursday and Friday's local fireworks I was horrified yesterday to see the ASBO neighbour had built a 10 foot high bonfire (mostly green, newly cut hedge cuttings, presumably to create a pall of smoke visible from the International Space Station and impress their inebriated friends) and the huge amount of explosives he'd got lined up; enough to start a small country war! Actually it would probably have cost them less to start a war. No advance warning. Despite them knowing everyone in our little cluster of houses has dogs, and in full knowledge that our dog is so terrified of the loud explosions and incoming missiles they particularly enjoy that he needed emergency vet treatment last year after he went went into shock, when they kicked off with enormous bomb blasts (we hadn't even known they were having fireworks). Total disregard for the poor horses (literally) on the other side of our gardens as well. With bouts of light rain and wind gusts in the high 20's and low 30'sc, I was hoping he'd decide it might be a tad risky and postpone the effing event. Not a bit of it. We put the poor dog in the car, fled the area and sought asylum at a family house over 20 miles away. Have today collected a carrier bag full of sharp plastic and unburnt explosives and what looks like unspent shotgun pellets from the back lawn and front garden today. Apparently one of the horses got injured from bolting in panic and other neighbours have said it was horrendous, last nearly 45 minutes and sounding like a war zone. Today's weather sunny, reaching 12c at 12.11. Feeling chilly in the west north westerly, gusting around 20mph. Pressure currently 1020.5 steady. No rain has fallen since midnight.

I was moved to tears reading your post and I only hope the the most difficult challenges have now been borne and, with you and your wife triple vaccinated / flu jabbed, you will both get through the winter virus free - and start to feel more confident about going out again. No mist or fog this morning but frost on the lawn and windscreen needed a quick scrape. Overnight minimum of 2.8c at 06:30 and 07:00. By 7.30 it had reached 3.2c and reached a max here of 12.7c at 14:28. Currently 3c with 93% humidity. It's been a beautiful sunny day, some lovely cloudscapes but couldn't take photos as driving a lot between three site meetings. Wind speed 0mph so expecting another frost and local council are running a full gritting service at 11pm. Hot water bottle night tonight! Pressure: 1004.4hPa steady having risen steadily from 996.6 at midnight. Apparently 0.4mm of rain fell at 16:30 today, although I was back at my home office and it was sunny and dry. Around then I'd taken a wander around the garden, cup of tea in hand, for a look at what needs tidying up this weekend and it definitely wasn't raining. Today's weather highlight; sunny, crisp (humidity 71% and mid 60's between 1 and 3:30pm when I was out and about), barely any wind making it pleasant in the sun. A perfect autumnal day.

After a miserable wet and windy start to the day, it significantly improved, well it couldn't get much worse in all honesty, and we ended up with a good amount of sun although feeling very chilly. Max temp was 12c at 14:31, currently 6c with 79% humidity but it felt colder when out for an evening final wee wee walk with the dog. The blustery wind diminished from 5pm and currently at 3mph with 2 minute average speed of 3.2 and 10 minute average = 3.0mph. There has been a total of 2.4mm today and pressure is 1017.1hpa rising slowly. Last night's minimum pressure, with the rapid fall that had me glued to the weather station far too late, bottomed out at 987.7hPa in the end. Now off to bed with a hot water bottle and a woolly bed sock version of these *she says in wimp-like embarrassment* - the house is cold tonight. Honest Guv, it is..

You and me both BB! It’s bad enough going out in the dark but to add to the torrential rain, the wind hurled it into our faces with fury - not sure who was most miserable, my poor dog or me. Then, less than 20 minutes after we get home and am upstairs changing into dry work clothes, I noticed how light it had become and the sky had cleared to this benign scene….

This is much further north than was shown on 6pm forecast and explains the unexpected heavy rain here. Weather station keeps reporting 'its raining cats and dogs' Pressure now 987.8hPa and still falling rapidly. Was off to my bed but might stay awake just to watch the pressure falling; its fascinating.

No thunder here, although Dr SH heard a rumble at his surgery (north west of Bedford) just before 2pm - one rumble and then the sun came out. Our heaviest rain was at 5am (woke me up) and a total of 18.4mm has fallen since midnight. Max temperature 18c at 13:04, currently 12c with 89% humidity. Blustery wind all day until 5pm, now 0mph. Pressure has dropped like a stone to 988.3hPa and still falling rapidly - my ears hurt! After a decent afternoon of sun and cloud. it was still clear enough to be treated to the fat beautiful moon hanging above the horizon, as though all spruced up and about to go out on the razz. Later though the minute the evening dog walk started the heavens opened. Heavy rain atm, although nothing like the south of the region is getting. Hope no-one further south gets flooded tonight, nor has to drive in your torrential downpours. ** In the short time its taken to type this I've had to edit today's rainfall total from 17 to 18.4mm and pressure from 991.6 to 988.3hPa, no wonder my ears hurt.
