Well that was a nice aperitif, when's the main course?
-
Just over 1cm lying and it's still coming down
-
Well that's a surprise! Woke to find a good covering here with good snowfall continuing. Long may it last

A couple of years ago I travelled from Ontario to Puerto Rico - in February! -24C to +29C - that was a shock
-
Intermittent heavy snow showers, nothing settling yet
-
Been steady snow here for the last hour. Now starting to give a good cover on the road

Just to put a bit of life back into the thread and to move it up the list

Took a few more vids, here's one, they're all on the same YouTube channel.
That one's on the main road over the top between Outlane and Golcar (for those that know).
I think you'll have to update your signature after looking at that video

Snow lovers be like.... why yo snow so deep?!?!!?
Anyway it's too high for the 30cm ruler, about 45cm if not more. I wish that was the level snow everywhere but it's definitely not. The wind keeps whipping up the snow so in the thinnest parts it's only 16-18cm, in the deepest parts (not drifts) it's 30cm+.
Current temp: -2.c, wind chill: -9.4c
Really good pics there Cheese Rice. I was joking last night when I asked Harsh Climate if we could get 30cm but you've outdone that!W have done well as well but can't post piccies as the ones my wife sent me are too large to upload

Christ, you're in Canada and you're looking at the UK in snow envy?! You don't hear that very often.
Yes, my wife has emailed photos and reported it's the best snow event since we came to Yorkshire nearly 20 years ago!

Suprised at that HC. 5" level snow here in Bingley n been out with me tape measure at the biggest drift in garden with 18" against shed lol.Just seen bbc graphics which now suggest light snow till at least 3pm.Best snow of winter by far and summer time begins next weekend lol.
You both want to get just up the road to where I live - only a couple of miles and we have at least 8" old + new snow with drifts of 1 - 2' near the village and 2-3' outside. Bleeding typical that I'm not there. I'm my own snow shield, I'm in Canada at the moment and although there's been snow it's only been fractions of an inch

I'm getting reports that we have about 4" and it's hammering down. Is it the same for you Harsh Climate. what about Cheese Rice?

Did anyone in sheffield area just see lightning?
Thundersnow anyone? :-)
-
Yep my thoughts are exactly the same as earlier, main band should arrive at around 6pm, but it's looking like we are seeing something develop ahead of this so before then there may be some slight accumulations before the big shabang.
I'm expecting totals of:
South Yorkshire - low ground 7-15cm
West Yorkshire - low ground 5-15cm
Rest of yorkshire 0-7cm, the less further east you go.
High ground over the pennines a further 15-30cm.
So as you're a bit lower than we are, does this mean the extra 15 - 30 cm

Wow, I've heard of a low pressure system but if the snow is sublimating, it must be a doozy.Bit of sublimation here in Leeds
-
Looking good here.... On a serious note i had a kebab last night and it gave me the trots....
Neigh!
-
Slight covering here 1/4 - 1/2". Occaisional snow flurries but whats on the roads is melting between the showers. Quite a surprise as I didn't expect it when I got up this morning.
-
I don't think the radar can cope it looks really strange out to the West at the moment
-
I wonder if cowdog is OK? He hasn't posted tonight as far as I know and he's quite high up in the pennines.
-
You should hang on to most of your snow tomorrow mate, Sunday is when it will get washed away sadly
I'm going to tell the wife to put some in the freezer for me so I can see it when I get back :-)

Judging by the traffic cams over the top at Saddleworth I wouldn't be surprised if the M62 is shut soon http://www.bbc.co.uk.../trafficcameras
Holy cow there's some serious stuff coming down there
