I'm not a huge volcanic expert, but think we're only a few hours away from quite the eruption. Immense earthquakes going on there.
I think you are right, or even sooner. Are you on the web cam youtube page?
They've closed the road past the Blue Lagoon to Grindavik, there is a lot of traffic evacuating

A state of emergency has also just been declared for the Grindavík / Svartsengi area as the earthquakes continue. No eruption is happening, or is imminent. Just a precaution at this point, and wanting people to be vigilant.

It's going mad with the quakes there in Iceland now.
I caught the last 3 eruptions as they happened, you guys need to watch this cam and see it live.
The experts think we are imminent for an eruption any minute practically!!
Here's a great webcam...

Probably older than that, depending on how severity is rated. We'd have to go back to the mid-80s to find more severe winters. My weather memories start at age 6, so if we assume that's typical, amd the youngest people who remember January 1987 would have had their 6th birthdays in 1986, then you'd have to be a couple of years into your forties to remember anything more severe, and probably over 45 to really clearly remember the run of mid-80s winters in any form of detail.
It does have to be said though that the second half of 09/10 was somewhat disappointing in the far south: persistently cold but zero snow, and February had many days of cold rain and dull. The low track was just that little bit too far south!
I agree, here's a photo I took in November 2009, and this was as bad as it got here, and yet 20 miles away, they had a foot or more of snow that lasted weeks :-(

I was ready for a 30mm+ reading tomorrow from the rain pivoting around the low but that risk seems to have abated considerably.
I agree, the weather has only seemingly got worse in one way.....the lack of weather. Today is like a blast from the past

had around an inch of rain so far, but there is no warning for my area, and it looks like another inch to come or more during the day?

May i ask what a November warming is? Ive googled it and nothing came up
I think they're talking about a Sudden Stratospheric Warming , it basically shoves all the cold air from the poles, southwards to our latitudes, and can lead to snowy spells, and big 'freezes'

Nice looking synoptics on the GFS this morning
Not overly cold-
But it would feel cold enough in that brisk E'ly
Won't it just drag a load of nasty low cloud and drizzle off the North Sea, it will be yucky!

Was going to go on a long motorbike ride out today, but the weather is a whole lot worse than was forecast.
It's literally like mid Autumn atm, I must have picked the worst August on record to have two weeks annual leave :-(

I know, same here. Not sure where the 18Z got its nickname from (apart from the obvious) as it clearly doesn’t churn out anything wildly different to the other 3 run per day.
Isn't it more due to the fact that a lot of NW punters, have possibly had a few glasses of wine before watching the pub run, and are more inclined to hyperbole (I'm guilty!)?
It's exciting to see snowmageddon when you are a bit tipsy :-p

Amazing videos showing just how strong the quakes are at such a shallow depth, god help those poor people in Grindavic even without an eruption, it's relentless for them :-(
