Radio Four mention rotating cloud in the forecast for Wales and the SW this morning. The day ahead certainly looks interesting.

Low level cloud? I'm not that up on meteorology, all I know is that the only thing visible is blinding white haze.

Very humid here. It's impossible to see if there's any convection going on because of poor visibility, which is very frustrating!

The severe risk bit is mainly for the heavy rain though, isn't it?

My completely un-informed guess would be that I'll probably get some hail and thunder tomorrow, but nothing that extraordinary. We'll certainly get a lot of rain! If there looks like even a small chance of lightning tonight or into the morning hours then I'll probably stay up. (In case anyone missed them, the pics of last Thursday's lightning are here.)

Does this mean people are going to stop being quite so rude about BBC forecasts in this thread now? :lol: It feels a lot less humid here this evening. I don't think I'll be staying up tonight, but we'll see.

Radio 4 forecast just called for thundery showers moving into the Westcountry overnight.

Everyone is asking me if I caught the storms here last night. I slept through them of course. Now I'll be paranoid to sleep for the rest of the week..!

That reminds me - anyone photographing clouds like we have today should definitely get a polarizing filter. I didn't find this out got myself until last year. Edit : Sorry for the slight derail!

Great mamma photos! Nothing like that round here, but some beautiful cloudscapes nonetheless. Summer 2009 has already been spoiling us and it looks as though that's set to continue.

Glad you all liked it. The rest will be up when the storms have passed and I've got time to sit down! More lightning, thunder and heavy rain outside currently. There's a lot of standing water and runoff - I can see there possibly being some serious problems with flooding this morning.

WOW. This is hands down the best storm I've seen since moving here in 2003. I've got loads of lightning photos and some of them are stunning. In absolute weathernerd heaven.
