Things kicking off to the east and we just lost power for about 2-3 seconds.
-
is that over weston?
That I don't know, but the strikes seemed to be all concentrated in an area directly in a line North from Ashill. How far away I'm not sure.
-
I've just been watching the storm you people directly to my north are getting. Loads of clear, strong lightning strikes and thunder. I only wish it was night or I had a video camera!
-
when did this happen, where in the hell did that come from??? NICE THOUGH B)
I saw the beginnings of something on the NW radar and thought I'd pop out and scan the horizon, but the second I opened the door down came the rain and a rumble of thunder! It's the first I can remember here for ages. Still very humid and hot out there, so hopefully we're not through yet. I'm off out in a min with the camera.
-
We just this minute had an exceptionally heavy burst of rain and THUNDER! The drops were huge and made an absolute racket.

Flood waters from the storm over Sheffield definitely rising. Camera list -

Look at the flooding in Sheffield!

Edit : Changed camera position. Give it a couple of refreshes and they'll probably put it back to where it was.

It's actually turned into something of a pleasant day down here, although I'm keeping my eye on the NW Radar. I'm off to Merryfield Open Evening at 6pm, so for once I won't be hoping for thundery weather.

Could someone give the GEFS ensembles a kick please? They've stalled on Thursday's 18z.
-
ta - catching it up now
Thanks and well done again chaps! Speedy as ever.
Edit : Is this the help, support and feedback forum or the backseat moderating forum?
-
Are the GEFS ensembles borked? They seem to be stuck on yesterday's 12z.

I wonder if we'll have a repeat of the bizarre events on this day in 1855? A fascinating story with loads of info on the net.............
Not to digress, but the problem with stuff like that is it's always from a long time ago and the 'evidence' is mainly anecdotal. You never hear these things happening in a time and place where they can be fully documented and investigated.
I found a mysterious set of footprints looking like large hooves during a snowfall 3-4 years ago but eventually figured out the explanation. I'll try and find the pix later.
I can't believe we've STILL got lying snow here. Winter truly delivered this year, and it's going to be difficult to top next year.
-
got a load of pictures if any one wants to have a look. shows the carnage its causing.
Woah. And you must have been exhausted after trudging through snow that deep too!

I'm putting my photos of the snow in Somerset here :

Just got in. Snow depth is still 9cm here and Ilminster.
-
I'll go out and get more pics myself in a little while, but it's pretty nasty out there.
We need a tape measure drive for Netweather I think, reading the estimates on this thread.
-
I woke up this AM to find 9cm lying on the road!
-
Thanks for the pictures guys. Very wintry indeed, BUT..........the snowiest picture only has about 1 1/2 inches on the ground
2 inches!
Where's the deep snow pictures?!Let's see what it's like in the morning..

5cm/2in lying on the road now.

You can get a good idea of where and how much it's snowing in different bits of somerset via the BBC's jamcams :
-

Hmm.. looks like I'll be having to make up my mind whether to stay up into the wee hours for the first time in ages.
