Round two from me.
Got thinking about favorite photo's and the immediate reaction is always the 'tornado' or the 'lightning'. Granted they are all amazing shots and truly humbling to be around (Not that we chase of course,,, Just in case an insurance bod is reading). To me a lot of it was about the people, without the characters and the organisers the chase would not be anywhere as much fun as it is. So here are some of my people pictures.
I apologise if anyone's missing. Tour 4 of course, would love to have been there for 1-3 but alas no lottery win.
These two because they show the intensity and concentration required for success.
These for the memories.
and finally..........
The electric Mr Fish.

Here's a few from me, I ain't no wizard with a camera by the way!
The 2 nado ones aren't mine one was a screen grab off someone's camcorder and I've no idea who took the nado one!
Video of the elephant trunk tornado
Video of the NW team in a hail storm
Close lightening strike between the NW cars, video thanks to Kim Anderson
Gustnados that went through a herd of cows
Cannot wait to get back out there now
20 sec into the hail video. A classic Paul "What the f*&%k" look. MasterCard moment. priceless.

I'm had one blow out and another request an itinerary, which is going to be a little hard to nail down.... arrive, meet the gang, get in a car, drive, laugh a lot, see huge weather, eat, drink bud, create the perfect solution to storm chasing, sleep, wish I'd written down the perfect solution, rinse and repeat. Go to airport, buy duty free, sit on plane seat, sleep.
Ever thought of renaming them weather safari's, get way from the storm chase label!

Camera experts! Probably been asked a million times before, but, I'm currently looking at buying either the Canon EOS1100D or the Nikon D3100. Both come with an 18-55mm lens. The Nikon is obviously a bit more expensive but is it worth the extra you think? I see it also does 1080p 24fps video where as the Canon is only 720p. Is there a massive difference between the two? Cameras I mean, not HD resolution Been reading a few reviews and the Nikon seems to have the edge (in their opinion) but was wondering if anybody had experience of both or either? Or should I look at something else entirely. Ta.
Age old argument. I am a 100% Nikon user, but more than willing to say Canon are great cameras. I always found the cheaper canons tended to have a little more functionality, but Nikon's had slightly better picture quality. I am a purist, buy a video for video, and an SLR for stills, but this is becoming a very old fashioned outlook. My advice for you is to head for a camera shop and play with both, then make your mind up. What ever you choose I don't believe you will be disappointed with either.

Yeah a lot of insurers will go to 4000ft, but not above because of the altitude risks.
I believe that these sorta people are sponsored with backing ready to throw cash at the situation in the event.
For the man in the street, I suppose somewhere hidden in the depths of the British Insurers bucket somebody would underwrite something at an exorbitant fee.
Knowing that I went up Pikes Peak in Colorado at 13000ft now makes me wonder if I should do it again, in case my insurance company goes ballistic.
You'll be fine, just don't book a cruise on an Italian ship next year. That would cripple you!

I'm curious. How on earth do people get insurance to go climb at high altitude? Thinking of Everest and the like, or do they just go and hope for the best.
