  1. Precipitation strengthening quite a bit over Leeds / Bradford area. Good timing as well. Slushy coverings starting to build on the pavement.
  2. Intensity has picked up now - looks quite heavy just south of Leeds. Hopefully can drift a little bit further north. Heavy enough now that its creating slushy deposits on pavements. If it keeps it up Roundhay Park will look very pretty just after work!
  3. Yeah, amber warning was always from later in the afternoon. I'm not overly worried, think tomorrow morning will produce some of the best pictures and disruption! Snow definitely getting heavier now so that should counter any melt.
  4. Thought it was just me, same here, snow has picked up but defo a slight thaw in places (soil etc..). Hopefully it continues to get heavier.
  5. Constant light snow with a temp of 0.1c. Like others have reported pavements and roads are soaked so nothing accumulating here yet. Suspect they won't be until after darkness unless it really does pick up in the afternoon. Got a couple of cms now.
  6. Light snow in North Leeds with a temp of -0.5c follwing a low of -0.9c. Still not sticking to pavements. Let's see if that changes when the heavier stuff arrives mid morning. In any case seems the potential for the snow to be disruptive will occur later this afternoon/ evening
  7. Still snowing lightly in Rounhay. Measured just under a cm on the bin. Has stuck everywhere bar tarmac (it's starting on the paving slabs). Temp -0.5c. I see the ppn is invergating further south. Hopefully a nice top up for the south of the region. Models look good though a case of now casting here on in. Snow should arrive mid morning - fingers crossed for a good event!
  8. Still snowing lightly with a temp of -0.2c. Should fizzle out in the next few hours. A decent dusting on all surfaces bar roads and pavements. I'm sure they'll be a decent covering on those once the heavier stuff arrives tomorrow.
  9. Light snow now. Band of precipitation seems to be strengthening over Leeds and Bradford. Showers also making inroads. Temp -0.1c. Perhaps a good dusting before tomorrow!
  10. Anyone in the Chesterfield area? Looks like the snow has just about reached the area. Perhaps Sheffield in with a shout too! Light flurries in Leeds now but with temp of 0.1c everything is now sticking. Let's see if the showers fizzle out by the time they hit Leeds
  11. Yeah, i thought an odd update given the warnings. Would have least thought reference to significant accumulations on higher ground..!
  12. Has been snowing on and off all afternoon in north Leeds, but nothing has stuck. Too light so has just soaked everywhere. Temp 0.6c and dropping, so perhaps might get an icy covering overnight before the main event arrives tomorrow. For those in the south of our region, say Chesterfield, i'd keep an eye on the precipitation further south. It may graze our region before the main event!
  13. Indeed, i still think a slight risk areas in North Yorkshire might miss the heavier precipitation, but model consensus so far is the milder air shouldn't reach South Yorkshire and most of our region should see precipitation. Agreed with TWS that higher areas of South and West Yorkshire look prime!
  14. I wouldn't worry, i am in Roundhay and hope to do rather well. Hills will always do best! The main point is it shows snow from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning!
  15. Closely followed by the GFS. Brings the snow south a bit but not enough to worry us. A little less intense too, but aligns with the ICON in regards amount. Again, take with a pinch of salt these sorts of graphics. The main point is it shows snow for much of our region from mid day tomorrow until Friday morning, with varying intensity, and would align with the meto orange warning.
  16. First of the 12z now out (ICON). Aligns with the Meto warning (though always take accumulations with a pinch of salt). 5 to 10cm for lower areas, favoured higher areas much more!
  17. On and off snow in Leeds too. Looks to be a heavier patch en-route. Not expecting a covering until tomorrow. Tonight looks interesting for the south of the region, will see if it reaches Leeds (am not hopeful). Model consensus appears in line with the meto warning. Looks good for higher areas of west and south Yorkshire (decent accumulations from tomorrow and inti Friday morning). Could be more marginal at times for lower areas, but suspect everyone will see a covering or snow falling. Either way we should all see some snow in the next 48hours- shame it took until March
  18. I'm meant to be driving to London at 4pm tomorrow so this will help our chances of a decent event quite a bit..... In the more immediate term the potential for snow showers to hit Leeds during the course of the day!
  19. Or marginality won't be a problem, because it completely avoids us (bar Lincolnshire) In seriousness should stick to the high res models. Will change track several times between now and Monday
  20. Yes, one to watch for the early hours of Monday. Looks quite marginal for most but western sides of Sheffield and higher parts of West and North Yorkshire could wake up to a surprise?
  21. Hi - apologies if this has been asked before. I often like to use the Hi-Res Rainfall Total Maps, but would be interested if there was a way to zoom in on these (and compare with what my weather station says). Probably like the last 24 hours feature on the live radar. Would this ever be possible?
