  1. Keeping an eye on them Showers in the North west they seem to have banded together i am not expecting them to reach this far but you never know.
  2. Can't believe how poor this winter has been only snowcover we have seen here was back in November for a few hours.
  3. That it for snow any chance of Snow for us In Sheffield now gutted only seen a few flakes since november.
  4. That it for snow any chance of Snow later for Sheffield from the west?
  5. Is there much colder air coming in or what im sat at 350m ASL in Sheffield and it's raining :/
  6. I have a big addiction to snow i love going out into the peak district in it, rather ironic that i came close to losing my life in it too. The Snowfall of 2010 was one of the biggest i have ever seen in my life around these parts we had 2ft of snow and my car was buried for a week the gritters couldn't get up our road due to abandoned cars it was manic, especially with there being a school on that road.
  7. we had had a few flakes in Dronfield and that was it.
  8. Pictures from Lady Canning Plantation in the Hills above Sheffield the Snow is knee deep even waist deep in some of the drifts it's unreal Just how much snow is up there. Well worth a trip up there for those in search of some serious snow, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Norway or something.
  9. Unless the in winds turn more North Easterly cant see us getting anything
  10. Why is there a weather warning out for our area today for snow does the met know something we dont?
  11. Snow lasted all of 2 mins and the band of showers have gone to our south
  12. Just started Snowing lightly in Dronfield again
  13. That looks like the Snow is banding up hopefully it will it will intensify and bring us more snow.
  14. Snowing lightly in Buxton surprise surprise.
  15. Roads may well have been cleared now but yesterday i didn't dare venture past holmesfield which easily had 1ft+ of snow up to Owler Bar and Fox house just incase i got stuck because as you get towards Owler Bar the road is notorious for snow drifting across the road an blocking it. There is one steep hill on the way back which is the reason is didn't venture past Holmesfield i knew that if i got stuck there i would not get back home. I would say it's well worth a trip up to Fox House today though Snow Ploughs have been out i don't think you will be dissapointed well worth the Journey.
  16. If you have winter Tyres Fox House Longshaw estate in Peak District would be a great choice only 8 miles from Sheff but at around 350mASL there is well over a 1ft of snow an big drifts.
  17. I used to see the difference all the time travelling from top of Marsh Lane which is around 215M ASL same as you there could be blizzards up there and difficult driving conditions yet 3 miles down the road at Atco crossroads at bottom of Eckington it is around 50mASL the difference that 165m makes is unreal. like tonight travelled from Dronfield where there is around 1ft in places to Meadowhall an there is not even a full cover with alot of green patches Just goes to show what a few hundred metres can do.
  18. Never listen to them anyway remember back in 2010 when we got 2ft of snow oh yes i remember they forecast 5cm!! Lmfao and we got stuck under a persistent streamer that seemed to just sit over us while most places within 20 miles North East south and West it had stopped.
  19. A friend of mine in Chesterfield said it's raining yet another friend in Unstone said it's still snowing there.
  20. bearing in mind some parts of Dronfield have 1ft of Snow how much more could we possibly see from these showers coming our way and potentially this polar low? what kind of totals are we looking at.

  22. I dread to think what it's like a few miles up the road from me if that comes our way i have a feeling roads to the peak district will become blocked due to falling snow and drifting there are a few areas near owler bar which are notorious for it. I once had to be dug out by mountain rescue after the wind had whipped the snow up that much it blocked the road an caused a lorry to jacknife that was at Owler Bar 1ft+ of snow that time and 7-8ft drifts as well.
  23. Blizzard at Wolverhampton Races judging by the camera on At The Races.
  24. Just been for a drive to Holmesfield didn't dare venture to Owler Bar an Fox House we out snow tyres 1ft of snow easily there cars are buried literally.
