  1. Where in Dronfield do you live Steve? im at my mum and dads in Dronfield at the moment the roads are bad enough as it is i couldn't believe how bad school lane is considering the kids go back to School tommorrow the road is akin to an ice rink i was sliding all over the place coming up the hill.
  2. Judging by the forecast i saw on Look North withe Paul Hudson it had snow over us from 5am to 4pm!
  3. http://www.buxtonweather.fsnet.co.uk/ -8.1 in at Harpur hill in Buxton at 7pm.
  4. I went for a drive out to Buxton and had a meal out there last night when i got there it was sleeting which i found quite incredible considering how high up Buxton is when i came back out the restauraunt it was snowing very heavily i went back via Dove Holes Sparrowpit which was very tricky indeed. There was snow settling on the roads all the way from Buxton to around foolow i then dropped down into the valley through Stoney Middleton where it was only sleeting on my way back through the hills to Sheffield it was snowing very heavily on the tops near fox house where the roads were also very tricky. Once i dropped back into Holmesfield it turned back to sleet all the way to Gleadless townend then it turned to rain as i dropped into the valley where i live at Killamarsh as it always does What even us in Sheffield where every time a decent snow event is progged it always ends up raining i will believe it when i see it.
  5. Posted in both my mistake lol! i have just been up to fox house it is plastered id say there has been at leats 5cm fresh snow up there it was bloody freezing the wind was very strong it took my breath away on a few occasions it was very bitter up there the snow line id say is around 300m.
  6. What happened to the heavy snow sheffield was forecast yesterday and today then because all i've seen below 300m is rain and sleet!! this is the last time that i take the met office warnings seriously.
  7. Are these forecasters just taking the mick now or what i live in Killamarsh North East Derbyshire and all we have had all day is light rain an abit of sleet what aload of rubbish take there warnings with a pinch of salt the only places that have snow are above 300m!.
  8. I couldn't help but laugh when i hit the curb twice it was like being on the dodgems trying to regain control of the car it was madness' i was half expecting my wheel too fall off lol i wasn't the only one to crash my dad did aswell he crashed into the curb and nearly lost control of the car because of sheet ice aswell the conditions were especially bad at Drakehouse near the retail park the road that runs behind it was a sheet of ice for the most part it was like driving across an ice rink Shame i didn't have a pair of ice skates might have had ago at it. If the skys stay clear i wouldn't be suprised to see it drop to -13 to -14 like it did the other night.
  9. I crashed 3 times because of sheet ice there was nothing i could do i went into the curb twice once as i was coming down cherry tree drive and then once near Drakehouse. I nearly crashed into a car on the bottom of Walford near the midland pub i was only going between 5mph & 10mph just rolling own and tapping the breaks then i caught a patch of ice near the roundabout and nearly went head on into a car that was stationery in traffic the look on that guys face was a picture he must have thought i was going to run straight into him luckily i managed to stop before i went straight into him a very close shave indeed.
  10. After todays shock i wouldn't rule anything out i was on my way back to Killamarsh from Creswell earlier when the Heavy snow set in couldn't believe it when i set off from Creswell back to Killamarsh it was bright sunshine when travelling back the clouds to the north & west turned very dark when i i got to Barlborough village it started snowing! then just as i went under the motorway past the Pebley pub it turned into a whiteout the visibility was terrible it had only been snowing 5 mins when the roads were totally covered and became very slippery.
  11. Are we gonna see anymore snow here on the North East Derbyshire/Sheffield border.
  12. Absolutely unreal the conditions here i have took some pics and videos of the Blizzard the snowflakes earlier were absoluetly huge we had a few cm in about 30 mins within less than hour it had brought traffic to a standstill in sheffield it took me 2 hours to get to Dronfield i crashed 3 rtimes because of sheet ice absolutely incredible scences here im stuck in Dronfield now where it's currently snowing very heavily again.
  13. After last nights let down i hope we get some tommorrow there was a dusting in Killamarsh but that's about it really with the odd flake of snow what a let down considering the forecast maps that i saw had showers over us today.
  14. Hi Mark what's it like in Creswell im at my parents in Dronfield & it is snowing pretty heavily.
  15. In Killamarsh we had a massive Hail/snow shower earlier today that covered everything yet when i got to Eckington there was nothing at all. Im at my parents in Dronfield at the minute it's just started snowing again so it should be with you soon enough.
  16. It's actually snowing in Dronfield now with some big flakes thrown in bearing in mind Dronfield is only at about 150m even lower than that in some spots wasn't expecting it.
  17. Just been out to near Fox house it was raining in dronfield but it's snowing up on the tops on my way back it was sleeting all the way back to Dronfield with Sleet trying to turn to Snow in Dronfield which i was quite suprised about i don't think it will though sadly.
  18. Check out the Buxton webcam heavy snow falling now! jammy sods! that's 5 days of snow in less than a weeks im right jealous.
  19. I have posted the pictures that i took earlier at the Cat & Fiddle Winnats Pass Castleton & Fox House in the cold weather discussion if you want to have a look.
  20. It was Raining at Ashford in the water then when i started getting higher on the A6 it started to turn to sleet then Snow i think i was near a place called priestcliffe at the top of the Hill when i first saw it turn to Snow and first saw a covering of Snow this morning. Im not sure what's going off but there are places higher than Buxton that Haven't got snow & haven't got anywhere near as much snow near sheffield as Buxton has.
  21. There is actually a decent covering in Buxton town Centre as well i went up to the Cat & Fiddle got back about half an hour a go there is a good covering of snow there as there is in Dove Holes the top of Winnats pass & mam Tor is covered too Castleton even has some slush in the valley which i was suprised at,especially considering at the otherside of the Valley up at Fox house the snow was restricted to the very top of tyhe hill it was snowing also at the Moorlands at Owler Bar but it wasn't sticking.
  22. The BBC are really starting to annoy me now i wan't to find out what the weather will be like on saturday and sunday because i am planning to go walking in the Peak District, every forecast i have seen so far today hasn't gone past tommorrow for some reason or other usually they do a forecast for up to 2 to 3 days ahead so why not today could it be down to the fact that there is talk of snow on the way?.
  23. well why not the roads are covered here in North Derbyshire border with Sheffield and the snow seems to be getting heavier!!
  24. It's been snowing for ages here in Dronfield Derbyshire on the Border with Sheffield the roads are treacherous! they are totally covered.
