Is this the band of showers that was due to arrive with the cold air, or is that later ? heavy rain now.

Raining here has been snowing a bit overnight but it has now turned to rain.

Looks like its snowing to the East of here at the moment, very dark over there.

Band has broken up to the north of me around the Lancaster area. A few disorganised clouds drifting overhead now.

Still cold here. No melting of the frost from last night, the remains of the snow from before Christmas now well and truly frozen again, and the bits of the road that have not been cleared of snow & ice back to a skating rink. Current temp is 1.5c and its starting to cloud over.

Looks like its heading straight down the M6 or ever so slightly East of. Can it maintain its intensity ?

We are relying on either fronts/more organised bands of showers developing to get anything again here. Unless the wind change direction we will struggle IMO. Latest GFS run keeps it dry & cold for us after Monday/Tues next week, right out into la la land. It looks like it's going to be cold, but dry.

Its still clear here and still below freezing.

It was actually colder here last night than at any time during the pre Christmas cold spell, we got down to minus 4 (may have been colder but my thermo sensor is a bit dodgy so i'll err on the high side), pre Christmas it was around minus 2. I think we may get a surprise tomorrow if this GFS run plays out. Oh and Happy New Year everyone .... was a bit drowsy before

Well the 6z GFS is coming out, and it looks like there will be a fair bit of precipitation around in the early hours tomorrow, will it fall as snow though ? actually looking at the forecast for tomorrow afternoon it looks fairly hopeful

Can't see it affecting us to be honest. Its too far East and looking at its current track it will all stay East of the Pennines.

If you like snow don't read the model outlook thread. Dry and cold seems to be what's in store for us if the current output plays out.

Temp is 2.2c here and we have a light sleety mix falling. There is still snow on the ground here from last weeks falls of snow, its patchy but its still here.

If you look at the latest set of GFS ensembles it never really warms up for us here in the NW. A day of around average temps then starts to cool down again. My link

More snow here again this morning. 2-3 inches on top of what was left over from Monday/Tuesday. Unless there's a thaw of biblical proportions we will have snow on the ground for Christmas day and it looks like getting colder again next week.

Started snowing again here. Having already cleared the drive for the past 3 mornings will tomorrow be the 4th ? We are now coming up to our 7th day with some sort of snow on the ground which for Preston is almost unheard of.

Well i hope it decays before it gets here if its going to rain, don't want it spoiling the snow we have left for Christmas Day. Looks a bit of a sleety mix if the radar is to be relied on.

Temp has risen quite significantly here, since i picked my temp sensor up out of the snow its now at -1.9 and steady. -

Not 100% sure about how accurate the precipitation type is on the radar. I had the Net Weather radar on earlier today and it said heavy snow over us but it was in fact heavy rain. I'd suggest a bit of caution. The advantage tonight is many of us have snow already on the ground, should help to cool things down a bit. If it is going to sleet/rain though i'd obviously prefer it didn't happen. -

Really thawing quickly here atm, that burst of heavy rain we've just had has speeded things up a bit. Just dug the drive out again for the third morning running. When it freezes tonight god help anyone walking on the pavements round here who is not wearing ice skates. Meto forecast is for heavy snow here tonight what's the chances of this ?
