  1. Frustrating isn't it. Its actually getting brighter here out to the west, there's 2 lines of showers one coming in over south Cumbria and the other coming over Southport/Liverpool and us stuck in the middle
  2. Meto updated warning. 5-10 cm from lunchtime till 10pm tonight. Drifting possible in fresh to strong w winds. Going to have to change somewhat here. Its flat calm here at the moment.
  3. We need the showers to start forming between the IOM and the fylde coast. At the moment this is not happening but may change as the day progresses. Its sods law really, in this type of airflow at any other time of the year we have normally had at least half a dozen heavy showers by this time of the morning
  4. Not sure. There's quite a clump of showers coming out of N Ire at the moment that seem to have our name on them we may get some showers this afternoon too.
  5. At the moment we are surrounded by showers here, to the north and south. Nothing here since the dusting at around 7ish.
  6. Looks like South Cumbria is getting a bit of a dumping at the moment.
  7. Yep. Seems to be going slightly north of me at the moment and straight in over you !
  8. Just had our first snow shower here. I have scraped the ice off my temp sensor and it seems to have levelled out at minus 5.7
  9. Can someone more knowledgeable offer any thoughts on potential forming of a polar low ? I know they are often mentioned, what are the chances in this air mass, is it unstable enough ? are conditions right ? We are down at minus 3.8 at the moment, the road is like a skating rink.
  10. They'll have to get out with the gritters ASAP, this rain will have washed most of the grit and salt away. When it freezes it will be very icy that's for sure.
  11. Stopped raining here, temp starting to fall back to 3.0c.
  12. Perhaps someone will confirm this, but it looks like the cold air is finally coming towards us. The precipitation is turning to sleet over the sea now to the south of the IOM. We have had around 1hr of persistent rain here.
  13. The BBC never said it would snow here tonight, neither did the Meto so for here they have both been spot on. As for tomorrow, its going to be much colder and if the last polar NWerly is anything to go by then the warnings are justified IMO. The nature of showers are hit and miss, but there is the possibility of 2 organised bands of showers, both on the fax charts, that could give a decent snowfall. Of course some areas will miss the showers but lets wait till tomorrow night before we say they were way out ?
  14. All snow now gone and its still raining, kids are crying because snow has gone, what could be worse ..... oh yes PNE losing 2-0
  15. Well looking at the radar the next band of rain is turning into freezing rain over the coast, perhaps the colder air is arriving already ?
  16. In that rain shower we had temp went up to 2.6c its now back down to 1.3c. There is a hack of a slushy mess on the roads and pavements will not be pleasant when it starts to freeze.
  17. Its amazing what 15 mins of rain can do to a cm or so of snow
  18. Spoke too soon, up to 1c now and still going up. Heavy rain shower at the moment, has made my mind up we'll see no snow here tonight.
  19. Temp here hovering around freezing. Had expected it to be on the way up by now. Just to add, i can't remember the last time we had lying snow on the ground for more than 2 days here.
  20. Heads up. We are now included in the Meto warnings for today. Snow over high ground and sleet/rain at lower levels with icy patches on roads.
  21. There's an awful lot of showers bunching up behind the main snow/rain band.
  22. Think that's the one we've just had kids outside now having a snowball fight
  23. Just near Grimsargh. Should be snowing in Longridge soon.
