  1. Still cold here. No melting of the frost from last night, the remains of the snow from before Christmas now well and truly frozen again, and the bits of the road that have not been cleared of snow & ice back to a skating rink. Current temp is 1.5c and its starting to cloud over.

  2. Yes - Rain Today Radar looks like they are clearing the North Pennines - I was watching these

when they hit the NE and Newcastle.

Looks like its heading straight down the M6 or ever so slightly East of. Can it maintain its intensity ?

  3. We are relying on either fronts/more organised bands of showers developing to get anything again here. Unless the wind change direction we will struggle IMO. Latest GFS run keeps it dry & cold for us after Monday/Tues next week, right out into la la land. It looks like it's going to be cold, but dry.

  4. Wind will shift gradually to the north west...and with temps maxing out at around 2/3C in some locations its a fair bet that rain may well be on the cards to lower ground. Perect setup sadly I was hoping for it to be cold as opposed to a laughable -2 at the moment

It was actually colder here last night than at any time during the pre Christmas cold spell, we got down to minus 4 (may have been colder but my thermo sensor is a bit dodgy so i'll err on the high side), pre Christmas it was around minus 2. I think we may get a surprise tomorrow if this GFS run plays out.

Oh and Happy New Year everyone .... was a bit drowsy before :whistling:

  5. Mate you really need to change your nickname lol

Actually, quite a few Northwest members need to!

What a week it's been so far, and still we are getting pelted

Coming down heavy here still - great stuff!

Who knows, with this change of weather-luck, next summer we might actually get lots of thunderstorms (hope against hope)

I know good innit. :cc_confused: Thing is though its not happening, because its not South of Watford, if we keep quiet about it no one will know.

  6. Not 100% sure about how accurate the precipitation type is on the radar. I had the Net Weather radar on earlier today and it said heavy snow over us but it was in fact heavy rain. I'd suggest a bit of caution. The advantage tonight is many of us have snow already on the ground, should help to cool things down a bit. If it is going to sleet/rain though i'd obviously prefer it didn't happen.

  7. Really thawing quickly here atm, that burst of heavy rain we've just had has speeded things up a bit. Just dug the drive out again for the third morning running. When it freezes tonight god help anyone walking on the pavements round here who is not wearing ice skates. Meto forecast is for heavy snow here tonight what's the chances of this ?
