  1. May be a sign of how desperate we are for snow here but i'm delighted with the covering we have here. If we had not had the hr or so of rain/sleety mix first then there would have been a better covering. Its the first time we have had grass and roads covered here since christmas day 3 or 4 years ago. Oh and its still snowing.

  2. Don't want to get involved in a met office bashing debate, suffice to say we are covered by warnings for the next 3 days. Snow and ice today, snow tomorrow and snow on tuesday - it may not happen but i'll add again the threat must be there.

Its still snowing here :D quite a decent covering now, roads covered as well.

  3. Sorry but we are unlikely to see any significant snowfall here in the north west over the next couple of days. Monday/Tuesdays 'wintersnowstorm' is progged to be a south/central event.

The heaviest of the ppn has left my area now leaving back edge light snowfall. It has left a dusting and nothing more.

The threat must be there or there would not be the warnings on the Met office site ?

  4. Going to have a run out with the children shortly to find some snow, just think we might not be able to get home :D - tomorrow nights system does look nasty, i am sure there will be a fair bit of flooding and plenty more snow for some. Just give it a shove 75 miles further North.

ADD : New SWW from the Met office for the NW tomorrow.

  5. Just seen the 11am N24 forecast, not looking good. She mentioned the snow in N Ireland, and tomorrows low pressure for the South and Midlands. Looking at the graphics the rain arrives in the NW around 3 ish and stays as rain for areas around the coast. Snow further inland, the usual thing really snow East of the M6. The heavier stuff seems to be heading over N ire and into SW Scotland and the lakes. Too early to call it a non event but the forecasts certainly are not getting any better.

  6. Fingers crossed. We had a very cold night here last night there is frost on the grass and on the bushes and trees in the garden looks alomst as if there has been a light dusting. Still feels cold as the cloud is increasing from the West. All the forecasts point to snow - but i have not dared to tell the children yet, i have done that too many times already :)

  7. I too have seen the N24 forecast.

It does look good, but having seen almost no snow all winter its one i find hard to believe. Until it is actually snowing and settling then i am not going to believe it is going to happen. Living in Preston for over 35 years has taught me to be very cautious when snow is forecast as 9 times out of 10 it never happens.

  8. Think that this is our best chance in this part of the UK to get something decent out of this cold spell, the optimist in me says we will get a covering, but then looking at the met office forecast for sleet then snow - and the blue rain areas hovering around on the BBC forecast - the realist in me kicks in and says it will be another rain event for us here.

Re registered on here as its good to see others that are "suffering" in the snow desert of the NW and i am fed up of seeing photos of inches and inches of snow all over the UK.
