  1. Nos da Jay cysga'n braf hehe Well i reckon this is one of those were we are all secretly excited but we all try to contain it so that we don't seem overly enthusiastic this reminds me of march 2006 and end of feb were we were forecast a day of snow and as they days went on snow was forecast for the following day rite up to i think about the 13th? and we had 11 inches in this part of wales swansea even managed around 8inches ? Can you confirm this jackone? That's been one of the best snows in my lifetime, You know it's snow when the main road has a good few inches on it after ploughing and gritting. Will this happen again? part of me says yes part of me says no?
  2. Haha watch out Derek Jackone is about hehe and he speaks better Cymraeg than you Your sure to get the job:L
  3. We had around 4 inches i think was 13cm but that's poor ive seen snowfalls in excess of 10 inches here and im only 15, Febuary 2004, March 2006, January 2002 etc I don't rate last 2007 snows as with the best at all the came within 2 days and nothing was evident on the 3rd day . a dusting this january lasted a week that couldnt last 48 hours wats the point in a load of snow if it just melts away? Ye sure thing it was heavy, yes it was prolonged and the accumilation was massive but it didn't last so it was pointless in my mind.
  4. Same here with the 100% risk, Jakone what makes you think things will be not as good as the 8th of the feb 2007 ? If i remeber lightly it was wet slopy snow even though it accumilated and then it thawed during the night only for rain the following day to turn to snow and carry on for 8 hours flat but only 4 inches accumilation for the amount of snow that fell was poor? The ph temps were around -4 -3 that day. Dam line i think was 530, 533? It was around there? So i personally think the chances are better this time than then almost definatly.
  5. So all in all things are looking very good at the moment?
  6. I had slightly more than that a fornight back had aorund 1-2cm left a nice covering which melted by dinner time though.
  7. Yes bus snow is forecast for low levels not higher levels only. I don't really know it could be 200 meters but in Wales i wouldn't class that as high. I live at 245m abs. The mountains behind go up to 600meters within walking distance of where i live on the Western flank of the Brecon beacons I class where i live as high but there are higher places.
  8. I think generally above 300 meters but I don't know .
  9. Lol, I just went on Weatheronline and they seem to think that the most accumulation will be in Wales and the West Midlands. But they do seem to have a Wales and West Midlands bias i have noticed anyway? Is there any reason for this? Are they're forecast to be takent? with a pinch of salt or what?
  10. Yes but as the snow really starts in the night and if there is lying snow in the city centre i doubt very much that you will do your test it would be prosponed surly?
  11. Oh dear, Where is it around Swansea? Ammanford Way? you best of hoping it's towards swansea way down the low ground, Some people round here do they're theory in Swansea and i know some Swansea people do theire theory up here so wondering that's all. Well if it snows heavy it will be cancelled sure thing.
  12. Haha Tiroced dentist and he also as a practice in Cross hands? Can't think of his name he used to be in Llandybie hehe And i Would rather snow on both appointments hehe i hate the dentist he never does any good to my teeth i can tell you that now. It is rather unusual that we are in one of the best positions for snow now wheras before it Was East East East, Hence maybe why this topic is quite lenghty aswell don't you think? But let's see But hey let's just talk about dentists and snow
  13. Oh yes, Ti'n siarad Cymraeg? (anw that has nothing to do with weather but still) And oh i hate the dentist i always find a way to avoid it lol. Plus my dentist is completely useless Well don't be too disheartened you could be in for something just slightly lesser risk but there is still a risk and this could be upgraded at any time. Taking into account the warnings for my area could be degraded so all isn't set in stone never is.
  14. Ok gwych, Great Things can still very much change see can't they
  15. What do you mean Carmarthenshire is in the Warning zone:D I guess you live in Penfro? Ceredigion? Jackone beth yw eich barn chi nawr am fy ardal i ? (What is your opinion now on my area) Things have changed since haven't they?
  16. Paid a becso nawr Shaun mae'n whanol tro yma i'r amseroedd o'r blaen, (Don't worry now) Yes i didn't see that update well that clearly implies that there will be lying snow in the South West because you need snow to to thaw:D lol and very wntry sums it up well for Wales. I have a feeling this may be a good event for everyone i just find it rather unbelievable that it's such a widespread event which leads me to think surly they must be covering themselves because not everywhere in those warning areas can possibly have snow can they surly?
  17. Oh rite i wasn't sure lol, Well my gran was born in Swindon although she was Welsh, so i guess of course can lol. And yes we are the most snow starved before we would atleast guarantee 6days of lying snow here in my part of the world ok with 2005/6 recording 26 but 2007 only managed 3 and 2008 only managed 2, 2009 so far has had one covering and a dusting so say 2. Very poor comparing to 05/06 because we were already on our 15 day of snow cover by this time last year. Let's see now if this spell can buck the trend I sincerely hope so. I'm so envious of Yorkshire and Aberdeen at times.
  18. I would say that's more a midlands area rather than a South West?
  19. See I want to think the same it's just with all the let downs I'm kinda scared of being disappointed, After all this winter the area that we are talking about here is probably the most Snow starved wouldn't you agree? Although we have done well in the past but in the past 2 years it's been relatively poor, Well for my area at least.
  20. Well as we know the snow risk for the following areas is as follows 60% Blaenau Gwent 60% Bridgend 60% Caerphilly 60% Cardiff 60%Carmarthenshire 60% Conwy 60% Denbighshire 60% Flintshire 60% Merthyr Tydfil 60% Monmouthshire 60% Neath Port Talbot 60% Newport 60% Powys 60% Rhondda Cynon Taff 60% Swansea 60% Torfaen 60% Vale of Glamorgan 60% Wrexham 60% Bath + NE Somerset 60% Bournemouth 60% Bristol 60% Devon 60% Dorset 60% Gloucestershire 60% N Somerset 60% Poole 60% S Gloucestershire 60% Somerset 60% Swindon 60% Wiltshire With the remaining areas in those regions having a moderate risk those being Gwynedd, Isle of Anglsey Ceredigion Pembrokeshire Cornwall Plymouth Torbay Heavy Snow 0000 Mon 2 1800 Tue 3 There is a High Risk of a Severe Weather event affecting much of England and Wales during Monday and Tuesday. Periods of snow will continue to extend westwards through Monday, with heavy falls likely in places. Although marked variations will occur from place to place, 5-10cm likely locally with as much as 10-20cm possible, especially over higher ground. Drifting will occur in fresh to strong easterly winds. This could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across higher level routes. During Tuesday, snow is likely to turn to rain from the east, except over higher ground. This Early Warning will be updated at around 11:00 on Sunday 1st February 2009. Issued at: 1133 Sat 31 Jan Remeber this is likely to change
  21. Haha lol. I doubt that to be honest depends how hilly the area is in Dorset then again snow is likely to last longer in dorset as the upper air temps are cooler and the warmer air never really enrodes. It's normally the other way round so this is great:)
  22. Hehe i've never been to sommerset Come on Carmarthenshire especially the Beacons. We are snow starved this year only had a dusting? Is this our best chance? Or will another winter blow away with nothing again
  23. If all the other regional ones get one so does Wales and the South West, And considering we don't have as many members as the others we will bunch together. So let's talk about the possibilities of Snow in this area. Currently looking very good but all can change. I expect Jackone will come and pay his remarks here. It's great we have a Welsh mod:)
  24. Yes i agree i have posted on here somewhere my ideas for the regional threads etc.
