Disappointing lack of storm activity here. We need the rain and despite all recent warnings I have only seen some heavy downpours last sunday.
Same, barely any rain here either. They just keep missing me. Yesterday it got dark, something heading my way on the radar and disappeared as soon as it hit my town!

It's been warm and has felt muggy enough for storms. Lovely moody skies, I can see there is some action close by. I'm willing it over here.

It's that time of year for me when it feels colder indoors than it does outside!

Bitterly cold in that wind today, currently hailing it down in South Woodham.
-
It is snowing here in South Woodham Ferrers, but too wet to really settle. My sister is in Billericay and it is settling there.

Bit of hail in South Woodham Ferrers just now.
I think we might have had some sleet about 4am but I was half asleep and the lamp posts were turned off! -

Perhaps you were in a fogbow.. rainbow made in fog
Great point. That would make a lot of sense! The sun was pretty bright through the fog.
Proper thick fog out there now too. -

It looks like Diamond Dust (wikipedia’s explanation is quite good), although I wouldn’t have thought it was anywhere near cold enough for it.
Exactly! I googled and it was the only thing that looks like this I could find... but it was only just below freezing.
It was the strangest moment, really beautiful. When I got home a neighbour came out and asked if I had just seen it too!23 minutes ago, alexisj9 said:Some small flakes of snow in the light mist/fog maybe.
They were definitely crystal like, not like snow. They reflected the light so much it was like little tiny flashes.

This happened this morning and I have never seen anything like it before. I honestly thought for a moment something had gone seriously wrong with my eyesight. Sparkles everywhere!
It was only when other people walking down the street were noticing, I realised it wasn't just me, and we were all talking to each other about it.- 1

Despite there no longer being an ice or frost on the ground, it feels much colder than when it was!
-
There is frost and ice on the ground, nothing on the radar, but it just rained here in South Woodham.

I've woken up to a light covering of snow, but very wet sleet falling.

It's my 66th birthday today, moogy... My dad rode his motorbike, wearing only shirtsleeves, to get the midwife. According to Tattum-family tradition, Dixon of Dock Green was just starting.
I'm guessing you are nae 66!
Happy Birthday!
That's a lovely birth story.
Things come full circle with births.
When I was born it was all about hospitals, and they kept all the mums and babies in for 10 days! When I had my youngest son, I had him at home and the midwife had to navigate fog to get to us.... and I got a takeaway curry later on.
I'm not quite that old, 1979. A good winter for snow I am told.- 3

I'm afraid I am allowing myself to get a bit excited as it is my birthday on Monday, and some snow would be a lovely present.
When I was born apparently the snow was knee deep.- 6

I know it's mild, but my neighbour is out mowing his lawn!
I have daisies in my front lawn! Just appeared this morning.

I think this might be the first time I've ever hung washing outside in January.

We didn't get snow in South Woodham, everywhere around us did though. We were in some kind of thaw bubble when it snowed so it didn't settle.
We have had enough frost it almost looked like snow. Nice enough when the tree is up.
I photographed a wedding in London today and it was lovely to see some snow at last, I was really surprised how much there was still about.- 2

Such a frustrating morning in South Woodham, ten minutes down the road schools are closed for a snow day... there's nothing here. A tiny dusting, not even a mince pie's worth of icing sugar dusting.
It's tempting to hop on the train and go where the snow is a couple of stops away. -
I had forgotten this frustration! I'm in South Woodham and have what I am optimistically calling wet snow (aka rain). It's all wet, all the lovely frost gone.
My sister down the road in Billericay has lovely snow and it's settling. -
I woke up thinking all the weather stations in my town were broken and stuck on -5, despite it being after sunrise!
The local low over night appears to have been -7.1 I'm in South Woodham by the River Crouch.

Facebook has reminded me today that 12 years ago we had snow and the secondary school closed!

A delightful squall passing over South Woodham. I've had to put my lights on.
