  1. saying -2 for me but windchill is making it feel like -5 according to my machine.....and icing sugar dusting , only visible against the brown of ploughed fields.
  2. I think the Blob is just a tease...its sitting there spinning away and hardly moving!
  3. you know I was repeatedly warned off this forum by one I used to frequent, told it was unfriendly and unwelcoming....I have to say its been quite the opposite, and I have been lurking in the main Model thread for aaages. Just goes to show, you should never take someone elses word for it.
  4. Dear Customer, We are sorry that your Blob2013 was not delivered as expected. May we offer as a good will gesture,a free Blob2013 to arrive with your pre ordered multipack of snow . We should perhaps draw your attention to our contract, which clearly states time slots cannot be garuanteed due to adverse weather conditions. It is not unheard of for a warm front or a persky wind direction change to cause unexpected warming and therefore delivery of your multipack would have to be delayed. You are quite within your rights to cancel your order, but wont you look a silly billy,if you have the only green garden in the county?? We do appreciate your custom, and look forward to your next order. regards The Weather
  5. Lol, course i hope.its going eastward too! Git so excited that the winds shifted to east. Am on phone so only just seen your response RP
  6. the Blob, or is it wife, son or 2nd cousin thrice removed of Blob.....seems to be being blown eastwards now, could it be that it may just......deliver something???
  7. as we are always being warned, snow events are absolute buggers to nail down, even till right up to the event itself.... some of us may end up luckier than we thought?
  8. I think there are some heretics standing with hairdryers all along the essex coast, helping the wind direction....the blob kisses or misses on the radar projection I am looking at.
  9. I can envisage us all glued to radar tonight, blob spotting. Cmon blob on the left..just a few miles more!! Could well spawn a few more horse racing puns! Good luck.everyone x
  10. I am assuming not a lot,as far as precipitation for where I am,but keeping the cold. That way if I wake up tommmorow with some on the ground and or snow falling throughout the day,it will be a bonus!
  11. Lots oh shocked OMG faces in th MFT at an apparent upgrade!!!! Seems easterly winds ( which tends to be good for us) are on the way next week. I am just so pleased the cold is here...far less ??????????? About snow falling at some point
  12. we all have often fantasised about huge snow drifts etc,and bitterly cold days and nights...but the reality might be blooming scary!! I dont have an elderly neighbours, but if you do, might be worth popping in and making your face known....just picking up a prescription for them might be the difference netween slipping and a broken hip,or going without ,and being far worse for them
  13. I couldnt agree more...I hover around the Model thread...not because I understand, but I go by the vibe in there... If its good and buzzy, then I know thats its good,if its spiteful then ,not so good. Good =snow, not so good= no snow just been correcting what I thought was the wierdest typo ever but i think this forum must have a filter, and replaced the word for a female dog,to caravany.....,so I changed it to spiteful
  14. I think the anticipation could be more than the event...however if it reaches us,then I hope its a showdown to remember and that the cold air battles back,so any white stuff remains! sorry I cant be any more scientific than that!
  15. Got to say, that this is the first year in a long time, that being mid Jan,peeps arent writing off the winter from this point on. Even if we do get an attemp at an Atlantic breakthrough,I am confident that the cold will not be far away. Its nice to have seasonal weather,in the appropriate season!!
  16. I agree, the snow showers currently visible on radar, will more than likely fizzle to nothing by the time they get to me...however if only the wind were to kink to a more NE direction (please wind gods?) then a bit of the white stuff has a chance. But I am not moaning, this is far preferable than rain, mild murk, and more rain mild murk, with a touch of flooding for good measure!
  17. I have been looking in the model forecast thread and obviously they are looking towards Fri and beyond...but seeing as FI is essentially 48 hrs ahead in these wobbly times,do any of the forecasters in here have an opinion on whats happening with our region through this week till Fri? I am hearing dry...but I was under the impression we were getting an Easterly flow, which "should" have been good for us,to drag in moisture from N sea....is the easterly off the agenda now?? I find Beeb forecasts to be dumbed down and really dont give enough detail. anyone got any thoughts/? Edit FI is far less that 48 hrs but I was being kind.
  18. got to say,am pleasantly surprised with the very friendly relaxed tone in here...considering snow tends to bring out the best and worst! In people. I think cereal manufacturers should.take note... Increased sales on frosty type goods!!
  19. going to take a brave leap and not watch threads or weather news tonight....just head for an early night and hopefully??? get a surprise not a disappointment in the morning. a good hour of sleet and +1 temps washed my snow away. it just looks damp outside now.
  20. looks like contestant in the red corner ,shannon entropy has beaten off the contestant wraparound anaprops , so much so her cousin, wraparound low may not compete!!!
  21. hmmm raintoday has it completely cleared me by 5 pm now, thats a heck of a lot faster than only about an hour or so ago... I think any more for tonight is looking like a no go. Beautiful mega flakes though, really stunning
