  1. The band of snow seems to be moving east at the moment. At what point is it expected to veer to the south, as it is about 10 miles to my north and due west of me, and I want some more snow
  2. What has happened in the models to change the forecast of heavy snow in the north of england moving south in the afternoon on the BBC, to having hardly any over us and maybe 20-25 cm in the south. Weird how much differnce there can be in the space of a few hours.
  3. Ignoring the second NAE chart things look very good for Lincs and the east midlands. I am quite looking forward to getting some proper snow.
  4. I managed to find the NAE and luckily by 12 noon it is showing pretty much all snow covering the country compared to the 6am version.
  5. Could someone please let me know where I can find the met offices NAE model, as I hear it is showing good thins for the east midlands tomorrow morning. Thanks
  6. The nearest weather station to where I live says that it is -6C as of 19.50. Now that its an hour later and everything is frozen solid outside, with the snow glistening under the frost, god knows what its going to get down to. It has also been cold today, as I found when I got into my car after finishing work at 5pm and found that the inside of the windscreen itself was frozen - I have never seen that before....
  7. Has anyone else noticed the large clutch of showers out in the eastern north sea, that seem to be making their way west, hopefuly towards us. What does anybody else think about them???
  8. We must have at least an inch of lying snow where I live, but down in town it is very, very slushy and wet. Hopefully there will be more later from the trough coming down from the north, before it all freezes making a slippy morning. Its all fun...
  9. Did anyone see the last BBC forecat at 11pm. The forecaster said that it will stay cold for "at least the next couple of weeks"... ... hopefully that means lots more snow for me and the rest of the midlands.
  10. There is a very light dusting of snow outside making everything white, even though there is absolutely nothing showing on the radar over us.
  11. Its snowing quite heavily here in Grantham meaning we officially have the first white christmas that i have ever seen
  12. Its officially a white christmas in grantham this year as we have heavy snow that has left about 2cm so far
  13. The dewpoint has now fallen from -0C to -1C, hopefully this could have an effect soon.
  14. I am currently in the middle of the heaviest ppn, which is falling as quite heavy rain unfortunately and I am hoping that it doesnt melt the snow that has been lying for days now. It would be nice to have snow lying on xmas day, even better if this rain turned to snow tonight.
  15. It is currently 0C with a dew point of -1C, and all we have had tonight is rain and very wet sleet, which as it has hit the very cold ground has immediately turned to ice, meaning I almost fell over twice on the way to the car. Luckily they are gritting, but I was hoping there would at least be a little bit of snow. At least the snow that has already laid throughout this col spell han't melted.
  16. We've finally got some snow tonight, with it coming down quite heavily... yipeeeee
  17. It is snowing quite fast but it is olny light, and again it seems we have missed out on any serious snow, with cambridgeshire seeming to have got the worst, probably only 20-30 miles away.
  18. What do people think will be the northern extent of this snow, as GFS seems to show it reaching the Humber, yet BBC seem to show it reaching the wash and leaving Lincs where I am alone, even though we have a severe weather warning from the met office for Lincs. Fingers crossed the GFSis correct.
  19. Has anyone else noticed that the ppn at the bottom of the region associated with the front seems to moving north westwards towards my location very slowly, with other showers starting to come off the sea.
  20. How far north do people expect tomorrows predicted band of snow to reach before it spreads down the south eastern side of the country???
  21. I am in center Parcs in Elveden for a weeks holiday and aver since about 4.30 it has been as dark as night, with frequent lightning strikes, booming thunder and marble sized hail, which has been hammering down for ages. Its such a great place to be during a thunderstorm... in the middle of a forest <_< p.s. it is still thundering very loudly
  22. Dont worry Polar Low is is chucking it down with snow here in Grantham, so it canot be that far away from you!!!
  23. Yippeeee its finally turned to snow, thank god, as the lying snow was beginning to slowly melt with all the rain that we have had.
  24. Why is it that everyone around me seems to be getting snow, if not heavy snow that it is still only raining here in Grantham????
  25. Looking at the radar it seems as though the band seems to be moving north at quite a steady rate, looking at the area heading towards Leicester. Just hope it carries on and introduces this evaporative coooling that people are talking about, as it is raining outside, but curiously itsn't touching any of the lying snow from the previous week.
