  1. Temperature is -1.3C and a dew point of -3 currently, with 6inches of level snow on top of wheelie bin and drifts of 7-8 inches. Best snowfall since 2010, might be even deeper than then, just not as cold as it was. Great!!!
  2. Considering this spell of snow started at about 5.45 and I thought it was rather wet, as it wasn't settling on the road or pavements, whilst I was at work, I have just gone outside and measured 10cm of fresh snow, on top of the wheelie bins and it is still snowing moderately at the moment. All in all, with Fridays snow, there must probably be about 16cm in total, on the ground.
  3. Met office is showing heavy snow from 09.00 thru 21.00. Hope it's correct, but seems to be a but fast. Fingers crossed.
  4. There is currently 7cm lying on all services, with drifts being upto 10-12cm in places. Has been snowing for the last 7 hours at least, and is very powedery in texture. Much better than I was expecting and am looking forward to the next few days for yet more snow, hopefully, in either the form of showers coming in off the north sea or the area of snow that is expected to move north from France on sunday...
  5. Latest nae precip accumulation gives probably between 2-3 inches for most of the East Midlands over the next 48 hrs.
  6. It is still snowing here at the moment, but not long until it has all finished. Have measured 7cm on the grass, but there is much less on the road and pavements, as it took much longer for the snow to settle. All in all, not a bad fall of snow, just hope it doesn't thaw too much.
  7. Looking at the GFS control run and ensemble mean the snowfall event on monday looks more widespread, compared to the operational.
  8. Can anyone tell me why tonight's small weather feature running down the eastern side of the country is forecast to be mainly rain, when the temp is currently -3c and the dew point is -4c?
  9. What time is the NMM supposed to be updated for the 18z, so I can see what it says for tomorrow nights gust speeds???
  10. The 6hrs is the only one which has been updated atm. The rest soon!!!
  11. We just got hit by a rather heavy cell, which was full of snow and has given the whole place a covering of about an inch. It also looks like there could be more on the way, with one final pulse to come through which is showing up red on the netweather radar. Much better than I thought it would be and much better than the BBC maps and NAE were showing last time I looked. Yippeee
  12. Looks like Cambridgeshire and the southern east midlands could do ok, looking at the latest NAE. If only it was a little further north I would be very happy!!!
  13. Has anyone else noticed that the NMM isnt working properly, with the maps showing but nothing else. Also does anyone have an idea why the NAE isnt out yet. Typical as I want to see what is going to happen tomorrow and through thestart of the week ...
  14. Does anyone know when the latest NAE comes out as I thought that it would be out at around 10pm???
  15. Looks like the latest NAE shows tomorrows snow falling for eastern wales into nw england, rather than the east midlands as was shown on the 12z.
  16. Its snowing again outside, after a brief pause and adding to what is already laying. The only downside is I can hear dripping outside, showing it is still not cold enough at 0C to stop this slow thaw
  17. Its been snowing here for about an hour, most of it being moderate to heavy and it is settling on everything. The roads are white, even over the wet slush from earlier. The cars are covered and the roofs are white. Throughout the day we have have had outbreaks of rain, sleet and occasional snow, and a gentle thaw, but hopefully the current snow will make up for that... hope everyone is getting some snow tonight...
  18. BBC seem to be very keen on forecasting "significant snowfall" for the NE of england, with the graphics showing Lincs and South Yorkshire, moving in towards the east midlands for tomorrow. Where is this likely to come from, because there was no mention of it yesterday at all. Thanks for any replies.
  19. Can someone post a link to the NAE models please, so I can see what they are showing.
  20. Looking at the news it is hammering it down with snow in london, with us in Grantham being lucky enough to have received 3 inches of fresh snow, this morning from the quite narrow but very heavy band of snow that moved south earlier. We now have about 4 inches of lying snow, which I am very happy with, but I always want more... please can I have some more...
  21. We have had a bit of a blizzard here in Grantham with heavy snow and some quite strong winds. It is still snowing heavily and I would say that 2 inches has fallen in the last hour, most of that in the last 30 mins. It is absolutely brilliant
  22. Are these showers hitting yorkshire, supposed to be the area of snow that should sweep down the east side of england tonight and tomorrow???
  23. Where abouts is tonights small band of snow which is forecast to come down the eastern side of the country, likely to come from. Is it the area of showers in the northeast or something totally separate, I have no idea...
  24. When is the now likely to shift stouthwards as at the moment it seems to be moving eastwards leaving me with nothing at all, so far
  25. The snow doesnt seem to be moving very far at all at the minute. When should it begin to move south as currently it is about 10 miles north west of me, but is moving due east
