  1. Well mention of snow and thats me out of Hibernation good to see the regular posters still here and the current set up looks good for a lot of folk. This is one of the best set ups for the likes of myself and fellow Westies. Hopefully most of us will see some of the white stuff Although altitude could be a big factor here Cheers Scott
  2. yes quite incredible temps down south consodering its zero degrees here with heavy snow!
  3. Your name is approproate to this topic ha, the time in question was the 27,28th December 2000 and western areas got subjected to a polar low there was widespread significant snowfall, here in Glasgow we had a level foot was a great snow event. Polar lows deliver BIG time when it comes to snow Scott
  4. Astonishinly low temperatures progged for tonight up here in central belt possibly minus 20 and it is only the start of December staggering.Cheers Scott
  5. snow blowing about in the wind, everything white could be a great event here tonight Scott
  6. regardless if it snows or not flooding will be a problem I am afraid! Scott
  7. it will soon start to settl eif its falling as snow, always suprises me how quick snow can lie on soaking wet ground if its cold enough, I am expecting the rain and sleet to turn to snow here just after six oclock even to lower levels Scott It will come dont worry the colder air hasn't even arrived in Ireland yet! Keep us updated Scott
  8. Its going to be a close one mate! your altitude will help though fingers crossed could be an epic one tonight place to be IMO is Lanark at around 250m asl snowed in!
  9. cold air just starting to dig in here and looking at the charts just after 6pm tonight it digs in a very interesting night ahead and very windy at the momment.Actually everybody up here be careful! potential for some very severe and dangerous weather so dont attempt anything stupid! take the right supplies if you are planning a journey. Cheers Looking at the chart for 3am tonight looks like the slightly colder air is the west of Edinburgh so a shift of 10-20 miles could make all the difference here of lower lying areas getting heavy rain or being snowed in! Scott edit:tryed to post the chart but it is telling me I am not permitted to upload this kind of file yeah mate it wont start to settle until after six oclock that is when the cold air arrives  Scott
  10. mental charts, actually was looking forward to a decent spring, could end up with a good fall here although the mountains look like there going to get an absolute hammering 50cm+ easy Scott edit; also bring back the Scottish thread  conditions here are going to be very different to south of the border, has been a running trend this month
  11. Was up Ben Lomond yesterday mega snow there will post pictures tomorrow, -6 currently and hard frost as I type what a winter eh! Scott
  12. just looking at the traffic cams it is getting insane how much snow has fallen seriously madness now! Scott
  13. heres the cold air coming back at 9am tomorrow morning so should see rain turning back to snow and by 3pm the whole of scotland is back in the cold air Also one thing to note the -5 indicates snow up here although it seems further south at this time of year -8,-9,-10 is needed for snow to settle suppose being further north helps eh Scott
  14. yeah that sounds right hmm just wondering what would have happened if temps had been a couple of degrees colder seriously Glasgow city centre would have shut down literally! yeah I agree altohugh March 2006 had more depth it was really a one day event where this has potential for a few more days yet Scott
  15. yeah CMD looks like colder air will make its way back down tomorrow so could bring a nice reload of snow but just now its horrible rainy and mushy, Also I think I will climb Ben Lomond after the weekend some mega depths up there I would imagine Scott edit; just looking at gfs 12z keeps the colder air over us for next week or so with plently of precipitation next 3 days are going to bring more snow and Imo some sort of records must be broken here as the depths of snow being recorded in this 5 day period (Wednesday to Sunday) could exceed 3 metres in some places easily infact. never mind 14-22 inches try 80 inches plus :o:O Never mind one of the greatest seasons I am going to put it out there and say this season will be the best on record, I wonder if anyone has information on total depths in cairngorms must be immense by now
  16. ughh all gone a bit horrible here now heavy rain at the momment seems the cold air has just went too far north, still a great covering but all mushy and horrible i suspect I would need to be around about 300-350m asl to still have snow falling. Cheers Scott
  17. wow epic snow here STILL snowing here, going out to check depth and get some pictures heres neilston which is not that far away from gives you an idea of the snow we have had http://homepage.ntlworld.com/neilstonwebcam/
  18. getting heavier here like CMD said could be something really special here come morning Scott hello SS just wondering did any of that 50cm+ snow survive or did it all melt?Cheers Scott
  19. am here:) currently 16cm and looks as if theres more to come:)
  20. ha I will not be looking at the radar tonight! not good for the nerves!
  21. yeah mate you have been very unlucky still lots more potential to come
  22. just looking at forecast of looks like its going to be snowing for at least another 12-15 hours, now if I average 1.5cm an hour possibly looking at 35cm+ here cant wait for morning see what I have got Cheers CMD what you think? what depth is possible? Scott
  23. Yeah end of febuary start of March is when we see most snow. also just saw Sean Battys weather forecast looks like could be epic snow for the next 2 days will just need to wait and see Scott
  24. yeah defo snow level dropping if you have any ground near you thats above 100m should be good falls there Scott
  25. yeah snow is now heavier here to, also looks like its beginning to settle at lower levels coming back from the gym the snow was starting to settle at 50m+ will be interesting tomorrow morning could be mega depth here Scott
