  1. Yes Rob K on TWO is completely right, the real life threatening heat is in mainland europe not here at all.
  2. Outside of the SE it hasn't been that great really, 25C in Birmingham today not exactly hot really, it's been a long four years since Birmingham recorded 30C+, proper heatwaves are when places outside of the SE/EA can enjoy temps into the early 30's C and for more than one or two days at a time, all the real heat is on the continent we are just on the periphery at times with glancing TM southwesterly flows with no proper hot TC southerly and thundery breakdown, the week ahead looks much cooler and unsettled with synoptics very similar to late June 2007.
  3. Yes i wholeheartedly agree Mr Data, very misleading thread title when it wasn't even close and the first ten days had some awful days i remember clearly, on the other hand January 2010 was a classic month with stats from yourself to back it up  I remember some of the stats for periods in the winter you gave were very impressive indeed,, nothing that impressive about this summer so far thats for sure and i'm in the west midlands which is warmer than the north.
  4. Well i want to stick up for netweathers June forecast and anyone else who forecasted an unsettled June, the first ten days were unsettled then yes it turned more settled but last week could easily of been unsettled too had it not been for LP stalling to our west so we had a narrow escape(it did turn unsettled in the north and west early in the week) only has the last week been that warm especially at night. There were some very cool mins mid month in countryside areas and even this week i recorded 6C in a local valley when it was 13C in town, if the CET's weather stations were more rural i'm sure it would of ended up cooler. 200 years ago the CET would of been much lower than today due to urban sprawl nowadays especially in the SE and west midlands areas.
  5. A pleasantly warm day here with pleasant dewpoints.
  6. Yes amazing photos with a wonderful vibrancy to them with lots of detail and excellent colour tones, the last one is my fave and thats sayiing something as they are all smashing photo's.
  7. lol, Im sure you would love daylight 24/7 365 days a year and no nasty cold at all.
  8. A cooler week ahead for central and southeastern parts than last week which felt very muggy indeed on some days esp tuesday and wednesday, very pleasant in any sunshine but chilly under any cloud and early in the morning/late at night, definately the risk of ground frost in sheltered western and northwestern areas away from that chilly northeasterly breeze, in the east less risk of a ground frost due to cloud and a northeasterly wind but it will feel chilly here too, some much lower dewpoints in the coming week than last week with them down to mid single figures in central, western, northwestern parts. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_London_ens.png
  9. It is coming into fruition in the coming week, some very chilly nights possible away from that northeast breeze in western and northwestern inland areas.
  10. Yes spot on, yesterday was not pleasant with brisk northeasterlies and overcast conditions. It seems sunday is looking unsettled and monday too in the midlands and southeast then settling down for a while.
  11. Ok fair enough but i love dry cold frosty weather in the winter, much better than mild, wet and windy, cold with clear blue skies in winter is just fantastic for taking long walks in the countryside, anybody else agree? Some cool uppers from ECM 12Z being pulled down from the northeast, i feel monday could be rather chilly and overcast in the midlands/SE on this run. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1442.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.gif
  12. Hi Luke, Yes it is looking increasingly likely it will turn more settled from saturday, 850's are taking a dip from current values so it will feel alot fresher but in the sun of course it will feel warm, not 100% sure it will be end to end sun though as some cloud could roll down from the northwest and even some rain from it but this should die out before reaching the south, you in liverpool will escape the rain in the next few days but might not on sunday, the worst place to be in the next few days is in the far south/southeast. Yes we could get a 2006 or 1995 type summer in July and/or August as nobody knows that far ahead yet.
  13. Well i think our last few posts should be moved to another thread as we are taking this thread way off topic, its silly to argue anyway. Back on topic GFS 12Z is showing drier weather not necessarily sunny weather from saturday onwards, temps could reach the late teens/ early 20's in sheltered southern spots mid teens further north with more cloud around, nights could be chilly and there is a risk of ground frost in rural areas under any clear spells, temps should hold up just enoiugh to escape any ground frost in cities and town centres though and there could be a cool ish pleasant northeasterly wind in the south and east.
  14. I know you don't like when i say this but ask Mr Data he'll tell you ground frost has been recorded on the summer solstice so ground frost certainly is possible in mid to late June under anticyclonic conditions and with cool air aloft it is very possible especially in inland rural areas away from urban heat. And it certainly didnt feel chilly today i was sweating walking around, its very muggy today and overcast. So is averageness in the winter with temps of 7C by day and 0C by night but many will moan on here including TEITS its not cold enough even this past winter many moaned it wasn't cold enough or snowy enough when it was one of the best winters in over 30 years, seems double standards to me to moan about averageness in winter but not in summer.
  15. lol yes so by the sounds of your post you admit HP in winter can bring more varied conditions than HP in the summer, HP is more interesting in winter than summer as it can bring clear blue skies, freezing fog, cloud cover and of course snow if situated in the right place, in summer it doesnt really bring much variation, i guess though next week interesingly enough with cool air aloft and HP moving in well on runs apart from ECM 00Z inland parts are at risk of a ground frost with unusually cold nights for mid June. Stephen Prudence will tell you too once the sun starts to goes down and if you are in the shade if we have a cool airmass aloft and cool dewpoints it will feel chilly after 7 pm, alot of people like it nice and warm until dusk not getting chilly when they are out in the garden in their deckchair. Btw i like settled conditions just saying it can get boring if lasts too long in the summer, most people on here like heat and thunderstorms, well no chance at all of that looking at the latest runs i guess averageness and cool nights suits you which is fine.
  16. Yes if you mean like this weekend with cool northerlies you could be right, most people on here hate HP dominated winters though as all they like is snow and nothing else i'm afraid but in summer they are happy with boring weather patterns. We could be in for cool northeasterlies after the initial northerly.
  17. Good to see a drying trend if rather cool for early next week, hopefully no more moaning about the warm nights. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_Manchester_ens.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.gif - Some nice mid atlantic ridging on ECM 12Z, looks very similar to GFS so far with fresher cooler air moving over the country.
  18. Drying up by the weekend with a strong mid atlantic ridge and a relatively cool light northerly flow, could be quite cool at night if the cloud clears which is debatable.
  19. It's going to feel really miserable under brisk northeasterly winds and heavy rain for the midlands and especially southeast england on thursday into friday, looks potentially nasty in the far southeast. http://www.wetterzen...cs/Rtavn781.png http://www.wetterzen...cs/Rtavn784.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn7817.png http://www.wetterzen...cs/Rtavn841.png
  20. Not exactly that interesting though is it with winds from the northwest, some proper heat with temps into the 30's C widespread and a proper thundery breakdown would be interesting but no sign of that yet http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack4.html - UKMO T+120 hrs fax showing cool northwesterlies with a front from the northwest heading southeastwards over us.
  21. 14C here with light rain and overcast skies, no temps above 25C here and certainly no bang here, big letdown to be honest, at least winter delivered exciting weather.
  22. Yes a very cool looking ecm run, gfs doesnt look much better with easterlies and rainfall end of week with cool cyclonic westerlies not long afterwards.
  23. What a joke people calling today hot and humid, look at the temps nationwide if thats hot then we really need a new word for when its actually hot. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgiaktgraph?ART=kartealle&LANG=en&JJ=2010&MM=06&TT=05&TIME=1200&TYP=temperatursyn&KEY=UK&TIME=1275737832
  24. Looking at the GFS 06Z ensembles nearly all runs have LP over the UK end of the week into the weekend, could be very wet in places, its going to be a nightmare to forecast where it rains this coming week even tomorrows rain nobody is sure about. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1681.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1921.gif ECM looks rather cool, another GP run from ECM.
  25. Yes rmc it was. everyone seems to be concentrating on the warmer runs when there are so many runs on the ensembles showing cooler conditions, ecm 12z seems to be lining up a northwesterly at the end.
