Ok this is mad, powerful sferics swamping everything on medium wave. If that's from the storm cluster in north wales then its averaging about 100 strikes per minute by the sound of it. If that's heading for me then i'm in for a treat
Is that the activity out in the Irish Sea at the moment?
-
Just had a look on the radar and theres quite a bit of healthy activity to the west of us currently out in the Irish Sea. Anyone know if this is likely to make landfall. Got a horrible feeling its sneaking NE of us.
-
giving up for the day. 0% chance of anything for us today now. Happy storms guys. Signing off.
-
This thing seriously needs to take a left turn! Do storms have SatNav? Tell it to plug in Crewe (for my storm starved Cheshire East friend there) and then Warrington .
Very sunny here right now.
Hopefully we will both see a bit of action today! Can't see it doing a left though...
-
Last 5 minute radar pass shows a very small shower popped up north of
The main storms. That could be NW, Cheshire's storm forming?!
hmmm...thats within driving distance for me...tempting
-
I can't bring myself to look at the radar but it doesn't surprise me.....storms will do anything to avoid here. I've had 3 hours sleep, I may aswell go back to bed.
Likewise. Drizzly murky rubbish here and no potential for activity. Let's head over to the NSC for a moan and leave these guys to it! lol

Anyone better informed and knowledgeable have an idea as to whether we will get any action up here today?
-
Same old murk here I'm sad (but not surprised) to say. Certainly not warming up fast enough for any convective activity and the cloud blanket is too heavy. Same old same old lol....
-
I will put my house on the fact we don't see any action tomorrow.(here)... I'd be surprised if we don't stay dry too.Watch this space!
Not enough warmth for any convective activity here today, and we are now lumbered with a layer of stratus again. Getting more humid though.
-
Well it's cracking the flags here and I haven't felt it this humid since 2006!
Just got the same grey murk that we've had pretty much all year here. Doesn't feel that humid or warm either.
-
This is an absolute joke now....mid-summer, heating on, lamps on, even the street lamps have just come on and its just turning 9pm....what the hell is going on? Something is very seriously wrong with the weather here right now....its not even stormy (which I could understand) it's just so bl**dy DULL ALL THE TIME!!
-
We actually saw some sunshine for about 25 minutes that sent the temp soaring to 16.7C - the second highest reading of the month but still below average for this stage of June.
Not long before the rain returned and it was coming down in torrents with 6.6mm falling inside 20 minutes at one point and a peak rate of 66.2mm/hr.
It's barely let up all evening with the daily total up to 18mm - the wettest day of the year. The misery just goes on and on...
Least you've got something of interest going on! Just the same old dull, grey skies and drizzle at best for us....!
-
Excuse me whilst I don't get excited by all this, I'm pretty confident we will miss out yet again but good luck to everyone down south where the action (may) be....

The foul, depressing horror show just goes on and on
Yesterday morning:
Yesterday lunchtime:
Yesterday evening:
This morning;
Just the same rank overcast garbage day in day out - all that changes is the shade of grey .
In the past after a spell of very wet weather the wind would have returned to the westerly quadrant with brightening skies but now it just stays stuck in the east resulting in the wet weather replaced by fog and murk as illustrated above.
Looks like the third sunless washout weekend on the trot with signs already showing for another write-off next weekend. A shocking run last seen in summer 2007 but not during autumn or winter since at least 2002
.
All throughout last year I had to endure wet miserable Saturdays like this and can't take any more. There's just no quality of life stuck indoors all the time feeling fed up - it's like serving a life sentence and I just wish I was in a position to be able to emigrate. The only thing helping me get through this nightmare is 15-days in Spain to look forward to at the end of July.
Just a joke that even Greenland and Iceland are experiencing warmer, sunnier weather
Richard. Your series of shots is literally identical to the pattern we have here at the moment. What's becoming so frustrating is that there is literally NO CHANGE through the day and into the next day. Just this mind-numbing grey blanket of featureless cloud, cool, breezy and mainly dry (any rain tending to be drizzly or light)...absolutely depressed with it!!
-
We have got the worst kind of "weather" here today. Just completely overcast, featureless grey skies, cool, but no rain. Mind-numbingly boring.
-
Yet another miserable depressing day. Cold, wet and sunless with more completely featureless skies.
This was the sky during the brighter part of the day before the murk and rain moved in:
Precisely the same dismal uniform grey we've been subjected to all day long on about 50% of days this month and for the majority of the time on most other days
Temp reached just 11.7C today so another well below average day. Only one day has been above average this month and it was blighted by heavy downpours. Just 16 days out of the past 82 have been seen above average maxima .
When will this nightmare end? Don't know anyone who isn't sick to death of this unrelenting dross and asking what the hell has happened to our weather. This vile month is so repugnant it's making even April and the first three weeks of May seem decent by comparison .
This is exactly the set-up we have got here at the moment. And people are talking about the week in March and end of May where we had "glorious" weather. For us that consisted of two days of half-decent hazy sunshine before breaking down into the pattern that we still have now!
-
Getting some moderate rain now. lol!
-
I've just looked at the V6 radar and the bulk of the action seems to be on the M6 corridor, into South Lancs. Typically we are in a dead zone, no rain just dull and overcast conditions. But I can' t tell at the moment which direction the rain is moving. If I had to guess I'd say easterwards more than south
-
It looks like the fun is going to poke through lol
Think you guys up there will see the action today.
-
Same old, same old here...dull, damp but no rain (some overnight), 9c. Horrible horrible boring weather!
-
Nothing has materialised here today so far. Just the same rainless, overcast dirge that we have had to suffer for weeks on end!
-
Amber warning from the Met for us in the NW tomorrow. Worth keeping an eye on,
-
Constant drizzle from about 7am here, and no higher than 13c. Got to be the worst midsummers day I can remember. 7.30 pm and we've got the lights on and the heating turned right up. Unbelievable...

Yep, in that corridor too. The radar picture is just soul destroying. Stuff going off the NW, NE and SE of us, and its all moving away.
