Model Output Discussion - Spring Has Sprung
Neilsouth replied to Community Team's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
MattStoke Not exactly like the previous cold spell was accurate for those living in the south, all of them were chopping and changing daily. The low pressure ended up so far south it went into France! -
The model section is so frustrating, posts that are completely on topic such as talking about dart board lows and the GFS at the time 12Z should be binned and it gets deleted. But people posting " God almighty pass me the rope!" and it stays! Much prefer the regionals so we can look forward to snow.. or not
-
But that depends where the Jet Stream is going, is it firing up towards the UK, or as in the case of this upcoming low pressure, funneled into France?
-
Look how "DRY" the last spell of winter was! Lots of people said that under the high pressure there would be mainly flurries in the East/South East as the air is too dry. Yet some parts had 5CM of snow fall with the cold upgraded nearer the time as well. You CANNOT accurately forecast snowfall so far ahead. Lets get the cold in first

Model Output Discussion - Into 2024

Do you lot not learn, LOOK AT THE GFS compared to others! Not only is it swinging from one to the next, but the entire global pattern is different!! Dartboard lows, dartboard highs, it's as if the pattern looks squashed compared to the UKMO/GEM. Bin it, it's WRONG -
