  1. Getting to the lighter snow now. Barring a miracle of the main band moving eastwards and then southeastwards we wont be getting much more.
  2. The lovely orange glow of night time snow! Looks like it wont last much longer then its just light bits here and there.
  3. fergieweather Ian Fergusson New UKMO model output has snow mostly Bath eastwards this eve/tonight. E Glos & Wilts focal point; 2-5cm (locally more). Some Wilts 2moro AM
  4. The met office warning is only a yellow, which they dish out willy-nilly and doesnt really suggest much in the way of sever weather. In Jan 2009 i think it was we had a red warning and only got about 10cm the movement of the band changed at the last minute. To be fair it is snowing lightly here, but the already wet ground and borderline temps could mean we see nothing more than a few sleety deposits on cars etc.
  5. For the sake of the 97 users viewing this thread (including me), I hope to god you're right! Seriously though, how could the hi res models be so far off so close to the event?
  6. GFS usually pretty useless regarding precip details at this range, or indeed any range. Better off sticking with the NAE within 48hrs, and the NMM. Both the NAE on weatheronline and NMM on meteociel look good.
  7. It's possible to snow at 4C if the dp and other factors are low enough, but it wouldn't settle.

  9. Tasty netwx forecast for the next few days, Friday moderate-heavy snow max temp 1C, Saturday down to -8 in the morning, a max of -2C and then down to -10C at 9PM (almost always wrong, usually shows the temp dropping off fa to quickly early on) and a min of -10C on Sunday morning (certainly possible with snowcover, non existent wind and clear skies). The temp over the next few days doesnt get above 3C so any snow cover could possibly stick around until the northerly kicks in!
  10. Not quite an ice day here, max of 0.0C. At least the possible snow event is rain to snow as opposed to snow to rain. Hopefully it's cold enough to settle on wet ground.
  11. Places in Japan use warm water sprinklers http://www.wunderground.com/blog/weatherhistorian/article.html?entrynum=60
