Mostly rain now, hopefully wont melt the snow too much. Only 13 hours ago the temp was -8C and dp -10C. So much for the cold being stubborn to shift, didnt stay for long once the Atlantic moved in.

Hopefully it sticks around for a few days, but if it freezes over it would be treacherous.

Despite it being light i thought it would settle properly due to to it being barely above freezing, and the ground has had time to get really cold the past few days.

Light snow which is only half settling on pavement/road and melting, which seems ridiculous after being -8C last night.

The south-west has quite a temperature range currently, from -10.3C in Hurn up to 8.1C on the Scilly Isles. 18C+ range is quite impressive for the whole uk in winter let alone in just one region.

So much for get the cold in place first and wait for the snow. How about get the deep cold in place and wait for a warm front to come along and increase the temps and leave maybe a slushy deposit.
