  1. Was a bit unexpected to see heavy rain today but it certainly happened. Was working so didnt get much of a chance to have a nose about stuff. A burst of rain at about 13:30 and downpour at 15:40 in central Norwich and in fact some good convection and high cloud tops noted also, cloudscape was good considering. Was pretty grim all day.
  2. That reminded me of storms later on in the afternoon where I saw some nice inflow on the side of them. Don't they call it 'the beavers tail' in america? Nice to see that kind of storm structure with the flanking line, anvil etc here in the UK, seen it so many times in US storm chasing videos
  3. Nice its always good to see illustrations of the moisture condensing at a given point and how it builds really quite quickly in the same place. Also noting the storms rotation towards the end. Timelapsing well worth spent!
  4. Looks like a nice smooth shelf, was the whole storm rotating? Great pics thanks for sharing!
  5. wow really focused that hail shaft! Nice pics of severe weather over there!
  6. Nice gust front and mammatus clouds with that really nice storm structure, nice anvil!
  7. Nice one Winso I think from that distance it shows the storm at its best and entirety. Looking back at those it certainly was a nicely structured storm and big too. Did it seem to be moving quickly cause judging by those pics it seems to move away or is it just the odd telephoto pic that makes it perceive in that way? Also is the funnel coming out of the line of inflow clouds there or is it just me?
  8. The first of the gust front pics that you took I didn't twig it until I realised it was you and that it was the same gust front I followed.. Thats the airport you're leaving
  9. my account of the storms in Norfolk 060709 and 070709 http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=55857
  10. Nice sun backlit pictures taken at the same time the end of the video was done...
  11. Links to footage of storms near the funnel cloud event here... http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=55857
  12. The first is a montage of things that I managed to film during 06/07/09 with the gust front that headed out towards North Walsham and beyond at the end. Also pictured earlier on in its life by Winso here... http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=55821# My footage here.. 3 parts to the footage taken on 07/07/09 below - 1st part - 2nd part, moustache shelf cloud - 3rd part, included a time check for Winso I purposely kept in as it was the time weirdly enough that he spotted a funnel cloud North of me :winky: http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=55850
  13. Damn great when you get a nice gust front like that to liven up your day :winky: Thanks loads for the pics! Omg I just realised that was the gust front that I chased up to north walsham, if I'm correct I guess that it didn't hang around for long as it kept up with me at 50mph at least! Its at the end of this video I took...
  14. Omg that would be my dream. As long as it didnt hit a relatives house!
  15. I just had a feeling something was going to materialise yesterday even though everything seemed to be moving alot slower that the day before, well at least from what i saw, i have some footage so I will post my stuff in here too. Wow I was south Norwich too, I had to make an excuse to go out and film as I was with my gf near newton flotman. Felt a bit restricted to venture out further. The good thing about this forum everyone is in it for the same thing and thats good so I do get to see these events even if I'm not there! Nice find and capture Winso!
  16. I have more footage of storms today, where was the funnel cloud near Norwich? Oh and I may as well add my first bit of footage to the mix which was taken on Monday whilst working. Explanation of the video is there too.. Ended with a pleasing gust front but unfortunately before I got the effects of it, my camcorder battery died! Nevermind you get the drift Have some more footage from today mainly of a nice whole storm and moustache cloud which formed below the base haha. not the best quality but it took bleedin ages for me to upload a 67mb video let alone the original 1.4 gb version I had previous! Quick edit just to say that the gust front looked much more menacing when seeing it for real than on the video but it wasn't your average cloud base thats for sure, I have seen plenty of those. In fact I really thought I was seeing a storm like the ones you see in the US. A quick question, I know a supercell is a rotating storm but does it have to be of a certain intensity as well to classify it as a supercell?

  18. youtube video is uploaded now of the storms here yesterday but I think I will send the link when the activity has died for today might get some more footage for today.
  19. no about 5 mins 67mb, i have a slow connection thats the problem.
  20. I need a faster connection! Trying to upload my footage of yesterday to youtube but my god its slow! Will post link as soon as its done.. Looks like showers are heading my way and should hit in around 30mins. Camcorder fully charged!
  21. wow what a day some great heavy downpoors, then to top it off an unexpected chase of a nice defined gust front and interception. Went right over my head then a short sharp storm behind it. A fantastic highlight of the day and I did get some footage of it although when I went under it and the gust hit my camcorder battery died! Oh well I still have most of it on tape YES YES YES!
  22. Yeah I'm excited about later on todays prospects (yes its gone midnight ) Seems like alot of potential all over the UK, shame I have to work tomorrow, would have been better if today was tomorrow and tomorrow was today but thats your luck. I should be on the road though. I love this time of the year with temps as they are more heat means more moisture held in the air and potentially more likely to be severe storms and a better chance of the gust front phenominum <_< Cape and LI values at a higher level too. Yeah I noticed that earlier nice rotating weather system
  23. Im not surprised hail is falling like that with the cloud tops inexcess of 30000 feet. Better have a look at your skewt of the temperature around that height could be interesting.
  24. Yeah nice shot. Seems widespread cape and li values at a substantial level, not surprised its a good day for stuff to kick off in many areas!
  25. Just had a look at the skewt for londonderry! Nice! Good high cloud tops, HP and plenty of instibility
