Really? In Egypt it was pretty much 55C+ plus for the whole time, nearer 60C in the Valley of the Kings, and from what I heard that was pretty common.
Similarly in Namibia, in the Namib.
-
Well, I guess its milder on the west for the same reason that the UK is, the gulf stream.
I've been to Finland in winter (Ruka area) and it was no warmer than -45C all week and then Norway to Beitstolen (excuse the spelling) where it was about -7C all week. I know the latter is further south but not that much further.

Cheers, not alot down this way!
The guys doing the filming today were a tad soaked by the end of the morning! That and with the road being blocked (I think it still is) made them a lil grumpy Not everyone knows the backroads... thankfully, as they are so narrow! (and thats coming from someone that lives down a single track road!)
-
You got a radar shot mate?
Its bitter out here, below freezing and very foggy, but nothing falling now.
-
Don't worry M, least you still have Katy to look forward to...
-
Snow getting heavier now, but still the small, drier flakes. Looking good as we go into evening... considering its already 0.3C with a DP of -0.9C
-
Some proper snow now, not the large, wet flakes of earlier, but the smaller, drier type abeit lighter and absolutely bitter in the wind. It's more like the snow from early last week where it was bitterly cold with light snow.
Any more PPN heading this way? Thick clouds hiding the hills higher up.
I've put the BBQ back away for another few days.
-
Intense rain at work level has apparently caused a landslide on the road out of the valley, Hansen lorries were blocking the road after trees came down and even more looked like coming down. Police have closed the road now, I came home over the top, which was interesting as the road is narrow as hell and it was the only way to get passed the blockage!
The river is very swollen and full of debris and the water is a very murky brown.
Water is pouring off the moor, which just can't take any more after all the rain/snow of the last few months.

Haha where did you find that emote!? I bet you been waiting to use that one! Is that outfit just for the weekend.....
Gonna calm down now after all what would the ladies on here say?!
Looking forward to tomoro although its gonna be a long day.
Came across it one day... its just : angel : with no spaces
This one Friday... in Plymouth...
Tell me about it, got the BBC coming to do some filming tomorrow... theres this researcher...

Ive heard katy is quite cheap in these parts.
Thatchers is made round here tho
Dark outside!
Which part of town might that be then?
Very dark, no stars either, but feels pretty chilly!
-
I thought Banter had the 18+ rating around here
Never really got into cider at uni, was all Snakey B with a shot of vodka
Oh... still dark
Perhaps I'll have some of Katy when I'm up in Bristol on a course in a few weeks
-
Did you say katy was sliding down well M?
There is a good cider down in Cornwall called Crippled Cock which is rather tasty.
-
I'm working my way thru Westons vintage at the moment.
-
If this was like last Feb I'd already have 5inches of snow
Unfortunately, not so. Least, I don't think so
-
If I won the lottery id live 3000 metres up in austrian alps on some glacier ski resort!
looking at latest chance is you will have more chance low down in bristol than i will about 1000 ft up!
For some reason it quoted the other one, but in relation to tropical, thats good to!
-
Oh I don't know, you could rent somewhere pretty quick
-
If tomorrow is supposed to be less marginal than today, then its all good for here. As we had snow today, which couldn't quite settle, so tomorrow I hope to see a bit more down here! (Down from the 1700+ that got snow settling)
-
Also, the second link, showed, to my eyes that the mean from 1971-2000 was lower than the mean for the whole dataset on the majority of months, so what was it you were getting at?
On my second attempt to view it it was blocked as a potentially dangerous site by my anti virus...
On top of that, Weymouth is an awful long way from Polzeath. So I'm not sure it contradicts anything. It affirms one or two things though.
-
0.2C here with a DP of -0.2C, so all looking good if some PPN comes along.
-
DB must be a snow ramper
-
Not quite perfect for me, it needs a crate of cider and then its a perfect setup!
I took that as a given
David Braine going for more snow over Dartmoor, Exmoor and up to Bristol. Looks like a pretty constant blob of white over Dartmoor.
Tomorrow looks very interesting...
Wintry showers on Friday, with NE winds.
Rain on Saturday... persistant
and to finish "Still not out of the woods yet"
-
Does make you wonder though when it happens whenever you leave country....
I would be tempted to put money on a snow event occuring while i am away!
Don't worry matt you will be able to get the shrimps on by the third week! Just seen the latest bbc forecast and it looks poor now for our region!? All to stressful
That'll do me!
Mmmm fresh mackerel, gutted and drizzled with a little olive oil, some rosemary and thrown on the bbq. Perfect!
-
I'm pretty sure the point being made was that its not the "jumping in the sea" once that counts, but the 16 years of it. Had I known that sometime in the future I would be posting on some forum about climate change I would of made sure to take the temperature, but I didn't, so I can't.
Oh, and it's always pretty warm in Timbuktu, being in the middle of the Sahara n all, but its really dull there.
-
Do you have to? I want to be dusting off the BBQ then!
