Its what the 06z suggested from what I can see, from about 6pm tonight onwards it looks quite interesting... could be reading it all wrong tho

I'm no weather man but surely this is South westerly?
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_wind.html
Probably got it wrong!
The direction is where the wind comes from, not where its going, the wind is likely coming from the N or NE at the moment... at least here, as the snow is coming from that direction.
-
That south westerly wind is helping us a bit.
South Westerly? Its more of a NE'rly surely?
EDIT: The sun has come out, but there is a pretty good cover out there, with more likely.
-
Lots of quite beefy showers showing up on the MO rainfall radar, so Im guessing most places will see something from now on, and yup as temps fall it should just get better.
Stopped here for the moment, but thats nearly an hour of heavy snow and its all settled and looking lovely out...
-
Whiteout! Can't see a thing! Love it!
-
Not sure if this was what Roger was getting at, but for the last 45mins its been snowing very hard here, settling with temps at -2.3C .... infact as I type its a total whiteout. ... Lovely.
-
Still snowing, and settled straight away... helped by the fact the temp is -2.3C. Some lovely big flakes to!
-
heavy snow up here now for the last 30mins, settling to a couple of CM's at the moment, and continuing! Prayers answered!
-
The higher moor to my NE has just disappeared in a cloud of white stuff... so 5mins time it might be snowing here! (or less, those clouds are really moving some!)
-
Count yourself lucky... where I live they can't even get the gritters down the road... usually we get bags of salt but haven't seen any for a few years... hence why my road is like an ice rink at the moment with the spring from further up flows over it... sheet ice, with snow on top and granite boulders just under the hedges... gotta love Dartmoor.
-
Finally... some light, and that may be an understatement, snow!
-
Hmm, pressure has been steadily dropping over the last few hours, currently down to 998mb, temp holding steady at
-3.3C with the dewpoint well below -5C ... heres hoping.
-
Can't see where any downgrading is coming from tbh. The BBC are playing catch up I reckon. GFS still suggest a pretty intense period later today into tomorrow on the wrap around. Edit: in fact if anything the 6z has intensified it still further.
Liking the look of the radar near here, and great to know Kaz is getting a heavy fall just up the road. Was this forecast by the Beeb this morning? Not really ...
With the sun streaming through the window... is there really any chance of anything for central devon soutwards?
I see from Rogers post he is expecting something to develop later today, but I just can't see it.
-
Not a sausage here! The ponds are all very frozen but the ground is bone dry and the sun is trying to break through... oh well, that'll be a NO event then. :o
Winds from just off N with the temp at -3.5C after an overnight low of -5.6C
-
As usual the carrot at the end of the stick!
Its now reading -4.4C out there now, -11.8C in the wind... but the moon is out so no snow... we can live in hope.
-
very clear here.... whats the point in all this elevation if no ppn comes along! hehe
-
I don't think there is anything to get down about, we were never due anything until tmrw at the earliest, and that still looks odds on to me, and in the meantime it might get pretty cold overnight!
EDIT: Adam: I guess it could be blowing in on a pretty quick wind
-
Clear skies now, with a temp of -2.3C and a DP of -8.6C! Feeling like -9.8C in the wind which is 20knots from the ENE gusting to 27.8knots Humidity dropping, 62% now and pressure steady at 1005mb
-
satellite images show a large cloudless patch over pretty much the whole of south central and south western england, but it is all moving quite quickly!
-
True true! On the positive, with the clouds now to the west there was a cracking sunset tonight!
-
Im not convinced thoughts, negative or otherwise have a direct bearing on the weather
-
wow thats a tall house to be able to see right over mendips! lol
Yes its just clear sky up here at the moment ever since around 3pm however it is getting ever colder! its now -1.4c although im confused how someone at 900feet in devon could be colder than mendips although it was cloudy here most of day so that might explain it.
No idea, but I am on a NE facing hill, and Dartmoor does have its own 'special' microclimate... at least those at Princetown think so... but then it is foggy for 360 days a year there.
