  1. Sounds like a plan! Best thing about winter for me (apart from the obvious) is the fact that Netweather really comes alive! Don't get me wrong, it is great in summer but I think it has that extra buzz in the winter, especially the model thread!
  2. Thanks for the pics, certainly brings back the memories! How I would love for that to happen again! With a possible La Nina, negative AO and NAO then we may be needing a JCB this year and not just a shovel!
  3. Looks like a possible funnel. Very nice wall cloud in the 3rd picture, or is it a gust front?
  4. Loving the new thread! Hopefully a winter like last year, I will never forget Christmas (which I spent in Leeds). Lying snow when I got there (21st) and then heavy snow Christmas eve and a magical white Christmas with a lovely walk in a complete winter wonderland!
  5. 8mm may sound low but I would not bet against it. Up until last night we had not seen rain for around 6 weeks. Even when it does rain here it is usually very light.
  6. Well the wait for rain continues here in West London. We have not seen rain for over a month now and I have never seen grass in this state in this country before. It is completely dead and has now started to be blown away just leaving a layer of dust. Even the trees now seem to be suffering with some dropping very dry brown crispy leaves.
  7. Quite a lot of high cloud in London which will have an effect of the temps today. We have actually had very few clear days this summer, most have been hazy with cloud.
  8. I think the above post is an example of why Regional Threads need to be introduced! People are always likely to focus on their own area and a lot of people on this forum live in the SE. Sorry for the off topic post.
  9. Was a bit sceptical at the start of the week, but 32-33c is now looking a distinct possibility in London tomorrow or Saturday. Night time mins of only 20-21c are also possible. Hot Hot Hot! (or should that be Very Warm, Very Warm, Very Warm) lol.
  10. I don't think there is any chance of that happening now. 30c may be reached in a few favoured locations, but locally I would imagine 28c as is being suggested by the GFS and local/national weather. You never know though..........
  11. It rained in 2008 when Hamilton won......a very impressive wet weather drive. I have given up on thunder, the models don't seem able to pin anything down properly at the moment. The deep lows that keep running into Scotland are quite impressive though, given the time of year.
  12. Are you stealing all our thunderstorms StOrM? lol. This year has been awful for storms here, I would love to share my pics, but there are currently zero!
  13. I agree.....in a shady patch outside it is not too bad. Inside though when trying to sleep and it is not good. I hope that we get a good thunderstorm at the end of this!
  14. It is not the heat that I mind.....it is the humidity that comes with it in this country. A dry heat can be pleasant, but feeling sweaty 24/7 is not a good feeling. Maybe I need to move back up north! lol.
  15. Bone dry here and has been for weeks. Grass is now brown and dead. Hoping for some cooler and wetter weather soon!
  16. Looks like being another hot day in London. My grass is now officially dead, it is completly burnt and resemblem the African savanha right now. Cold......please come back soon!
  17. Chilly nights! I am very envious though, it is too hot at night at the moment. I must admit I would be surprised if snow did fall in London. It is hard enough in winter never mind summer, then again it was 122 Years ago, but even so....
  18. Has the GFS accuracy improved since they started using the parallel run as the main run in December or has it not made much difference? I remember there seemed to be quite high hopes for the parallel being better.
  19. Looking forward to the darkness again personally. Down here we are just south enough to get a bit of proper darkness even during midsummer I would have thought.
  20. Quite the opposite actually, the sun is unusually quiet and has been for a while.
  21. The first chart is the percentage chance of seeing snow. I would treat those charts with extreme caution though, they are good for giving a brief overview but should not be used as a snow forecasting tool this far out. Stick to the radar and lampost!
  22. Will this be similar to the Feb 09 one TEITS and hit Central London and West London too? Please say yes!
  23. A band of showers to the North of London now starting to move in. Looks like West London may get a bit of snow, hope they intensify when they hit the city.
  24. Are these showers likely to become more intense as the day goes on?
