The week ahead weather forecast was to stay cold but looked very much like rain events to our south although it could be marginal at times ..

EURO4 just out and has also downgraded winds for tonight - backing up GFS 12Z - mean winds speeds were 5-10mph higher for the south coast on the 06Z. The very strongest winds now reserved for Cornwall to IOW coast (50-60mph mean, so probably 80mph gusts) between now and midnight. East of IOW probably 70mph-ish on coast. As with GFS, a short bust of similarly high winds for S Wales and Bristol Channel around 3am.
I think I will take note of the met office no offence….

Thursday's Channel low has now come back to haunt southern Britain on recent runs following being dropped in favour of a more southerly track across France. It may not win prizes for strong winds, but more worrying is its more southerly origin compared to Wednesday's or Saturday's low, so it will have more copious moisture/latent heat wrapped up in it, thus it will likely produce a worrying amount of rain across southern Britain on Thursday based on current models progs.
Hi Nick … Thursday's low only half heartedly mentioned in BBC forecast tonight…..they can't bear to give us more bad news!

BBC forecast tonight never really explained how much rain may fall over the next 5 days or did I miss something?

Oh dear .. the mad modellers have all thrown in the towel, put up the white flag and admitted defeat from our big lovely Atlantic ocean, well direction thereof!! .. Cold spells bring much misery to lots of our folk not to mention accidents but still the coldaphillics gnash their teeth .. it is a rather bizarre fetish .. go to the Alps the snow is lovely at the moment .. bring on a nice mild warm late winter..

Hi all .. quite a squall that was .I see the mad modellers have chucked the towel in for any severe cold spell next week …
-
Hi all the weather watch forecast just shown on the Beeb for the next 3 weeks was quite unremarkable not a sniff of any cold to note ,, not sure why the coldaphillacs on the model thread are so hyped .. think they should all quit, get a life and leave it to the pretty good and British met office…..

I am about a mile from the Stadium, it really is calm here at the moment.
No rain, light wind / odd gusts. Come 10pm though I expect that to be different, hope they called this one correct.
I had tickets for the game but decided not to go …. based on the forecast winds for later and the 25 mile journey back to Oxted …. lets hope there on no incidents

I am amazed they havent made an announcement one way or the other about tonights football match. Even considering this forums ability to ramp (come on now we know it happens ) ) there does seem to be real cause for concern this time round. 60k people, many from the home counties, trying to get home after 10pm can not be a good thing.
We have tickets for the game but looks like we won't be able to get there by train ..almost certainly it will be called off….
-
Hi all .. off to the the Arsenal vs Chelsea game this evening …I think it may well be called off ?
