  1. that heavy ppn may come this way. salisbury plain area looks where our luck might change later on. few hours yet. bbc weather gives us to see something at least. 5am-8am is when we have snow falling maybe
  2. I think it will become more clear what will happen once the cold uppers take hold.
  3. i think the front has gone to far east! the snowline seems to be from what i gather west midlands down to swindon\ oxford
  4. its very light ppn here even in somerset. seems to be all to west of us
  5. very poor then so far but isnt it after midnight it should get interesting. that rader is way off the mark. very cold outside but its more damp and unpleasant at this time. cold rain is the worst thing ever
  6. lets see what happens after midnight what i gather when snow is possible. low ground looks unlikely to get anything by the look of it. lets pack our bags and spent the night over the mendips. lovely when its white
  7. from very poor to terrible i suspect. even us further east it looks hit and miss
  8. looks like a marginal event to me only above 150 m in somerset as i said last night. wont be expecing anything on the ground from this
  9. Headline: Rain and hill snow spreading east through the day. Today: Starting bright but frosty, with areas of freezing fog. Already cloudy skies across western Cornwall with rain, edging slowly eastwards through the day, giving snow over the moors in the afternoon, and perhaps to lower levels later in the east. Maximum temperature 5 °C. Tonight: Rain and hill snow continuing through much of the night across the region. Snow possible to lower levels at times in any heavier spells, mainly across eastern counties. Minimum temperature -1 °C. Monday: Outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow continuing through much of the day. Drier, brighter but colder conditions pushing into eastern counties as the afternoon progresses. Maximum temperature 6 °C. Updated: 0306 on Sun 29 Jan 2012 Forecast for Exmoor National Park for Sunday Starting frosty. Soon becoming cloudy, with spells of rain turning increasingly to snow by the afternoon. Light winds. Updated: 0305 on Sun 29 Jan 2012 Forecast for Dartmoor National Park for Sunday A cold and frosty start. Spells of rain spreading eastwards may eventually turn to snow by the afternoon. Light winds. Updated: 0305 on Sun 29 Jan 2012 Gives us some hope in somerset esp. it seems the further east you are in the south west the better. radar watching, seems though by monday it may turn sleety as the gfs 18z were showing time will tell!!! NAE updates anyone?
  10. I can see you getting a good pasting, lets hope you can pass it down here
  11. Gfs 18z precipitation type does look quite promising tomomrow evening for us but it tends to go to far east overnight leaving us in the green for a time esp over somerset west? I havent seen the latest NAE yet which is a handy tool
  12. yes its up in the air still but if it goes to far east then these problems will occur i suspect. with ian tweets then its looking promising still.
  13. with this in mind anything could happen but as a guidline as i said that most times during a marginal set up it come into use. like feb 2009 snow lasted in shepton mallet for a week when evercreeh, wincanton melted in 3 days. and a low in jan 2010 that were a marginal set up from the altantic was very wet snow on low ground to begin with shepton mallet higher seing it turn to snow quicker. christmas 2004 was a good example of a marginal set up.
  14. if its a higher ground event for snow only above 150 asl then yeovil will miss out as its low ground at 80 asl or so. shepton mallet is alot higher then yeovil why i say if its not snowing there then it wont be places i said from experience
  15. Gfs 18z is another epic run for here. tomomrow and monday look good for snow possible on the mendips so im taking a walk up there at some point shepton mallet is around 150 m above sea level so with met office guidance they have a good chance and frome maybe. so if we say shepton mallet is the snow line. then places like wells, yeovil, wincanton will be on the wrong side. i always say if its not snowing in shepton then it will not here
  16. for my location that could go either way depending on how high you are above sea level i guess. hopefully it doesnt push so far east if we will miss out. close call
  17. NAE update is good for us apprantley. i can say we could get snow but may not settle. im not building my hopes up atm.
  18. back in december 2010 apparently dorchester had a pasting then. go down weymouth and all gone! very poor for snow in weymouth. when was the last time snow last more then a day?
  19. chris is the bbc graphics based on the ukmo. confused as fax looks different
  20. yes it depends how far east it goes the more marginal it will get on lower ground esp. last night was prefect and i just knew it would move east. looks like snow turning to rain possibly?
  21. yes i seent that bbc news showing snow the east wales and west country. likely to change slightly sadly but promising
  22. maybe some sleety stuff in the air if your above 200 metres tomomrow. met forecast some sleety stuff possible over the mendips tomomrow. may take a peak. such a poor winter so far. take what i can get. interesting period ahead it seems during feb.
  23. hopefully another harsh frost tonight. looked amazing this morning.
  24. well your more of an expert then me i suspect i agree there is some changes short term but 2bh gfs was still a bad run lol
