  1. I never said that I thought the BBC was nutural when it came to climate change, in fact I think that a lot of its content is quite insistent on AGW existence. What I said was that they are usually very balanced and rarely seem to take sides, ergo it was nice for them to supply a counter view concerning climate change for once.
  2. With a name like Mr Sleet, I'll take it you're quite a nutural, in the middle person? Haha, but I agree, this article isn't taking any side, it's just recognising that temperatures are not increasing at the moment which in itself, kind of disproves many theories that AGW will gradually increase. Like I said, we need a little more time.
  3. Studying law and italian, totally different ball game altogether :/ Does anyone have a link to a source which lists different economically developed countries and their commitments towards reducing emissions and the like?
  4. I feel that this article is somewhat comforting; the BBC are renowned for being a highly respected and very unbias and nutural reporting agency, so such a general summary report to be published is very nice to see. I think we need another five years until we can decide what is going to happen with future temperatures, it should allow us to be able to come to a better conclusion with a clearer trend emerging.
  5. Highland, Grampian, Tayside and Fife: the places to be for snow this weekend. That is what the models are saying at the moment. I'm praying for the cold weather to become a little more intense and a little more widespread (although the cold weather will indeed make it quite a lot further south, past the Pennines perhaps). The metoffice have a warning out, should be referred to!
  6. Yeh my mum always says: 'when you were five, Robbie, and it was Christmas, there was a big blizzard. It was the first proper snow you had ever seen, and you wanted to go and see what it was like". I was totally oblivious to this event, I just thought it was so cool that it was properly snowing. Maybe where my love for snow came from? haha, but apparently this is the biggest snow event my mum and dad can remember up here, expect from in the 80s when there was a massive powercut due to power-cables collapsing under the weight of the snow.
  7. Very beautiful pictures, it's a shame that it was a little bit hazy, otherwise we could have seen the mountains a bit clearer. You can sort that easy enough of photoshop, but if you like keeping your photos au naturale then maybe not haha.
  8. What sort of effect would the melting of such glaciers have on the North Atlantic Current? Would it add to the potentially shocking problem, as we rarely hear about the effect of Antartica on this change. Edit: Been doing a bit of research recently, seems Scotland, The Faroe Islands, Norway and Iceland will be affected most by such a change. A drop in 10'C in these countries, with a big change to the climate of France, Germany, England, Ireland, Wales, Denmark, Switzerland, North Italy and Belgium also. Take today as an example, pull 10'C away from Scotland's temperatures and you have... - 9'C as the daytime max in Inverness, - 8'C as the daytime max in Aberdeen, - 13'C as the daytime max in Braemar, - 12'C as the daytime max in Lerwick. Personally, I hope this change happens but wish that it is a lot less severe, say 2'C degrees away from our average temperatures.
  9. China and India's population growth has slowed considerably, and will only plummit as of now due to an increasingly affluent society, so no. No one has the right to control life. Besides, the One Child Policy in China only created The Little Emperor Syndrome, causing many potentially very well educated children to become decadent, spoilt and selfish. Not the kind of world we need.
  10. I like the flower photos but I feel they are a bit overdone when conveying a winter bite in spring. Perhaps we should try take photos of other signs of spring under winter weather, like lambs covered in snow with frost bite? haha
  11. If only that was your dose of Michael Fish Syndrome for your life, but we all know it isn't . It's a shame the Atlantic is beginning to 'wake up', we might have been in with a chance.
  12. 8.4'C. I reckon a bit of a warm spell, battered back by some very cold weather for April, followed by above average temperatures. An inversed pyramid trend.
  13. Things have certainly began to change up here, heavy sleet showers with strong winds between 7-10 (with intermissions of heavy snow), now turned into heavy snow showers with strong winds. Temperature beginning to drop away, currently 1'C. I dunno NorthantsSnow, Aberdeenshire will be far worse off I think...
  14. Yes, even up here in the Highlands we really miss "the old winters". There was once a time when 6 inches of snow would have been a casual affair. Still, stastically "a proper winter" has to happen again atleast once, right?
  15. I'm going to be doing something of a snow-chase myself, going through to carrbridge for a walk/photography outing, although it probably won't be too pleasent...
  16. Beginning to change up here. Winds have become a lot colder, heavy hail and sleet...
  17. I'll be in Aviemore twice (Satudarday and Sunday), so I'll bring my camera for Aviemore and for Carrbridge, and probably some home Inverness photos if things happen as suggested. Should be some nice pictures
  18. I'm way off. Cold end more like. Is there a publishing of each country seperately? Perhaps my prediction will be nearer the mark for Scotland? lol
  19. Such a scenario would really produce in the likes of Aberdeen!
  20. I think that factors like mountains (in Asia, America, Europe) would have an affect, because the terrains are so different. Also, Antartica would also have a big influence since it reflects so much heat. Is there not a chart for this somewhere?
  21. Snow is of course possible in March, there's no denying that. What I don't understand is why one of the most beloved snow events of the last 5 years (March 4 - 14, Depending on location in the UK), is able to be looked upon with fondness, but move that spell back ten days (to fall in line with what's coming) and everyone says: "urrrgh, I hate it."
  22. "Great Dodd from Castlerigg Stone Circle", one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. Great work!
  23. Beautiful photograph, absoloutely brilliant!
