will we dare open the curtains saterday morning !!
LOL! I love/hate that moment! So fabulous/disappointing...

There are one of 3 possibilities for us at the weekend.
1) The Atlantic returns with a bang and we get a snow to rain event as milder air sweeps in.
2) The Atlantic and Cold fight it out above the SE and the front stalls in the cold air giving us copious amounts of snow.
3) The Cold air holds it own and we stay cold but with no snow.
Unfortunately we will not know until Saturday which scenario it's going to be.
As it's my birthday on Saturday, the best present would be scenario number 2... Can you sort that out for me please?

Nothing here, AmershamMike. Not a snow grain. Yes, Dec 2010 was great here - although my parents got stuck despite my warnings!
-
Hi AmershamMike!
I'm in High Wycombe and I float between here, 3 counties and central southern depending on what's happening!
-
Just had a hail shower here. Looked quite white on the cars for a while - hoping they'll be even whiter next week...
-
I wish they would share some with us - it's pure greed...
-
Had heavy snow for about half an hour but not settled - the ground is saturated. Very pretty though
-
Hmm - a kind of sleety snowy mix here - not settling. Radar says snow, so maybe on the tops of the hills around here...
-
We had some heavy sleet with some very wet flakes mixed in at around 4.30 this afternoon - a nice surprise. Here's hoping for a few more on Friday
-
Good to see you here TEITS
We had some sleet in High Wycombe today with a few very wet flakes mixed in - a nice surprise. Hoping we're not too marginal on Friday...
-
You might get some snow tonight in any precip as I would have thought Wycombe is definately of high enough elevation.
Unfortunately I live in the valley between the big hills, but you never know!! Will report back tomorrow

Afternoon!
Thought I'd pop over and say hello. I usually post in the 3 counties and EA thread but I think I'm probably closer to some of you. It's very difficult being borderline! So if you don't mind I might float between the two...
A cold wind and a heavy rain shower earlier here - sadly not even sleet...
-
Thanks MK! I was just looking at the Central Southern lot and I don't know if I should be there really - although it's a bit quiet there! I might have to float between the two...! It's just that I feel at home here and Bucks is one of the 3 counties. It's all too confusing!
Anyway, not much to report here - just a very cold wind and some rain earlier. Not even sleet

Hi everyone
I looked at the regional threads a couple of days ago and thought I was going to have to join in with the Kent lot (London and South East!). Glad to see the 3 counties has appeared again!
Looking forward to the excitement of lamp post watching with you all this winter...
(to MKsnowangel and Mrsf16 - I used to be Mrs M!)

Currently?
At around 6.20 I heard about 3 rumbles of thunder - didn't see any lightning but I'm further south in Bucks than the other poster. No rain but it woke the kids up!
-
Hi everyone

Thanks for all the intresesting posts and for being patient with us ones that always ask is it going to snow in 3 weeks time specifically down my road???
Hope the summer is a good one but not too hot will be expecting my 2nd baby in August!!!! I will say hope we have more thunderstorms this summer!!!

Good luck with your August baby
I had my daughter in August 2003 - the record breaking one. It was not pleasant...

Oh no! Everyone's leaving! Was it something I said?
Merry Christmas everyone - and dream of a white one anyway

How is it that showers coming in north or over the Wash can sweep from a north easterly direction across the country as far as South Wales.
But showers coming from the Wash or south of the Wash from a north east northerly direction die within 20 miles of hitting land
I have been wondering that myself this afternoon...
We still have some decent snow cover from Saturday although it took a bit of a beating from the minor thaw yesterday. It completely froze over last night and I had a scary moment having parked on a hill when it was still all wet, came back after a couple of hours when it was frozen and had a real problem getting out of the parking space and then getting up the rest of the hill. At one point I thought I was going to slide all the way down the hill with my kids in the car. Really not an experience I want to repeat... Seems the thaw/freeze situation is much worse than the snow.
It doesn't seem to have thawed much if at all today so looking at a white Christmas on the ground anyway (mostly gone from the trees).
Looks like it will be quiet in here for a while now, sadly. I really would like a little top up to add to the festivities, but maybe I'm just greedy

Beautiful sunny day here with a hard frost. My husband's car is frozen shut!
Speaking for myself, I haven't been posting on here as much as my main interest is snow, but I have been popping in to read the thread and I will continue to do so. With two small children and trying to get a new business started, I just don't have the time to be as obsessive when there's no snow on the horizon...
