BBC forecast shows light snow flurries in mid wales tonight? Could give a slight dusting
said it would snow last night as well but someone forgot to send it our way ha ha.

Aye. Looking forward to spring now. Days are getting noticeably longer which always make me feel good.
is it to early to ask what people are expecting for spring/summer for us in Wales?
if we go on past few years I think it be safe to say rain wind and floods ha ha, but please not this summer. lets have a summer like 76

How/why on earth are so many people saying goodbye to winter in early February?
We may or may not see any more snow between now and next winter, but it's a little presumptuous to declare that winter is over on February 11th. Cold, snowy weather does happen in late February, March and even April. May I remind you all of April 1998, April 1999, March 2001, February 2003, March 2004 and March 2006. I even saw a few flakes of snow in April 2012!
some people don't like winter half as much as summer so they want it to end quickly, and others like snow but to be honest I don't mind snow but not snow that comes and then melts in 1 hr making a slushy mess so as the temps are predicted to rise over the next 10 days it may to some make sence to prepare for spring. we all know snow can come in april but I think you will find that what people are talking about is deep cold with snow that hangs around. and if we are to believe the charts etc they do now show mild temps coming in. last summer to me wasn't summer it was like oct and nov with wind and rain. even though it was summer it didn't seem like it at all. so lots of people said what summer.

Looks like im right winter over mild weather coming in bring on spring now
foggy there seems to be quite a lot in the model thread who are saying the same, after today it looks like temps going to rise and by next week the charts are showing temps of plus 13 for us in the south, so this week and next week turning mild that be the 21st feb then so spring could very well be on its way. unless the outlook changes again ha ha, and it could well do by this afternoon if the models do they norm turn around. im the same could do with some sunshine now, with no rain until next oct.( no chance of that)

from what im looking at it does seem to be going south of wales and if it does not change direction quick it will miss wales all together.

just saw countryfile from yest and they said about sw winds this week and mildish, just looked on model thread and looks like that's going to be correct. some charts way out in f1 looks like it could turn cold again but that is in la la land and cant take any notice of that. even though I think the real cold part of winter could be past as for snow hanging around thing could change as they have many times this winter.

no rain or snow so what happened? I thought rain or snow was supposed to be pulled back over wales to give either. looks very much like it has been dry all night. saying that it must be very very difficult to work out the exact track of rain/snow when it is rolling around like yest. I think the temps were to high for snow in this area anyway.i found yest quite interesting watching the radar. the way it swirls around and stays in one area for ages and not far away nothing at all. also after taking more interest this year in the weather there is no way would I want to be a forecaster trying to predict what is going to happen as it is ever so difficult as things change right upto the last min.

just watch itv main news and weather shows quite heavy snow for midlands area tonight and getting to the far east of wales (you could have a bit) but as for the rest of us it didn't look good at all if im honest guys for snow that is. so what is the talk today that its further west?

itv Wales weather said upto 10cm of snow but looks like it is for north east wales, some in south east and rain down south around bridgend area and nothing down west. and rain then for next few days with what looked like sleet for thurs.

yes same here lots and lots of this lvly rain, can u imagine if in winter our rain was snow, we would be cut off for ever. being stuck in with the wife and kids for weeks on end that sounds fab ha ha,but worse for them being stuck in with me lol.We could still have lots of snow to come, but you are right about it not sticking around. The chances of sticking snow are decreasing day on day with the suns rays getting stronger. Especially the closer to sea level you are.
Anyway it's currently pouring down with rain here. I can barely see S Wales on the radar!

im not trying to cause trouble now but who does think winter could be over as far as snow (sticking around snow)? if you remember Foggybrynna did have quite a few people question his post only a few days ago, but there does seem to be quite a few now who think the same. if there is snow going to come today due to heights it norm comes right behind my house on the bwlch so will keep checking later today but to be honest I cant see any snow coming now (I may be wrong) temps are way to high. I think that's it for snow sticking around, we may have one or 2 little dustings like we had few days ago but as for proper snow time is moving away now. looks like we back to the rainy season ha ha. it does not seem to take much rain now for the streams to start back up on the mountain. few years ago there was only 7 runs coming down now when it rains there are 11 and when we have days of rain there are much much more. we do need a long dry spell as the ground is full of water.

just saw how much snow parts of America had last night, fair play they got enough to build a snowman. don't take them long to get traffic moving mind. I am hoping to be honest we don't have anymore snow now as it just goes all messy slush in no time as the sun is much stronger now. and be nice to sit out the back with a cuppa or beer with some nice warm sun. so fingers crossed for a long dry hot sunny summer. starting in march please and finish next October. wonder what my chances are for that to happen? I would say none at all.

I just saw the forecast on bbc and it has changed? they just showed snow going from east to west on sunday night and that was around mid wales but he did say this could shift south and to keep checking but he did say 2 to 5cm.

I cant see any snow for south and west wales and only the very high ground in east as the temps they just showed for Wales on bbc weather are way to high, plus 7 for most of south. maybe foggybrynna was correct that winter is over as the nights are getting lighter now and temps are warmer sun is getting stronger and no real cold about for near future im not saying we wont have some snow but winter looks like its starting to fade away now.

I hope it don't rain on sunday as my son has a rugby match and nothing worse than the kids getting soaking wet even before they start. some don't even start as soon as they get wet they get cold and that's it ha ha. at least if it was dry snow it would blow off them when they run ha ha. I think by the looks another wet day for most of Wales. never mind we had a fair bit of snow this year,summer I want now and a long hot sunny one PLEASE.

yes does sound as if as most will miss out on snow and have rain, and even if it does snow it be gone very quick with rain to follow.

yes looking out from back of house the bwlch is white and starting to get thicker. just drove up from ogmore vale and temp was plus 5 in car and got out side house and was 2.5 if the temp drops could give a covering. I would say the sticking line is 400m asl.

Morning all I been reading on our welsh thread, and some say possibly snow for Wales but been on model thread and they all seem to be saying the snow will be from milands east. so whats the story on that? are we going to get rain to snow? or rain or SNOW LOL. just looked at temps on sunday and Monday and the temps look quite high for us, but it is still 4 to 5 days away so anything could happen.

Foggybrynna did only say what he thought and as for evidence why would anyone need to give evidence to say what they think may happen? also as for charts they change like the wind and cannot rely on them for next week let alone next month etc so I think this is just how the person feels. and I thought this Welsh thread was just to chat not about charts etc. I have seen many posts on here in the past that people have posted and most of them don't have any proof to them as reguards to charts models etc. im not having a go at you Jay just think that if he had said I think its going to snow quite a bit over the next 4 weeks most would be happy but when someone says the opposite people don't like it. anyway lets be nice and when is the next snow ha haHardly nasty, just giving my opinion on the comment as it's only early February and there's many weeks to play for yet in regards to snow opportunities. Just saying that posting a comment saying that winter is over with no evidence isn't helpful to any newbies reading our forum, if there were charts to write off the next month or so then i'd like to see them.

so what happened to the cold temps we were going to get? just looked out and I am quite high asl and it looks like rain or sleet at best,i thought we was going to get snow showers today with temps around 4 and dropping during the showers,i been out in car today and temps ranged from 3.5 to 7. no wonder its falling as rain. what does the next week (or 3 to 4 days)have in store for us in Wales guys?

just been having a quick read on model thread and quite a lot of people on there saying could be a major snow event on the weekend but they don't know where, and then they say that it looks like it could get a lot milder.some saying winter will be over if one of the models is correct. I wonder if things and moods will change when the next lot of models come out? looks like parts of Scotland are having very large amounts of snow another 20cm today and with these winds that stuff will pile up to give large drifts.

nothing here guys looks like its been dry for quite a few hrs the ground is nice and dry. feels a lot colder this morn. and looking at radar most of the showers seem to be going north of most of wales and south of us.

I don't think anyone has egg on their face to be honest, if someone wants to say they think its over that is up to them, same as the met office gave warning for snow and nothing came of it, Andy himself has said snow and it has not come, the weather is difficult to get correct. what I see is some like snow and nothing else(and cant think of anything else and when someone says no snow or mild coming in they hate it), some people hate winter and long for the sun(but that never happens better chances of snow ha ha).also what makes you think that the charts this morn will come true? yest they showed mild today cold what will tommor bring? some go on gut feeling and that's up to them some go on charts and again their choice, myself I look out of the window and hope its not raining and windy.
